Hey Guys!

I have an opportunity to nab up a sizable collection of these lure from a deceased fisherman's widow.

They run from 1/8, 5/8, 3/8, 1/4 oz & a wide variety of colors...they are in mint-like condition.

How do they compare quality and production-wise to a Strike King KVD 1.0 or the old Storm Sub-Warts?

These are my favorite shallow water cranks for sure!

Thanks

A few years ago I decided I needed to try wake baits.  I bought the largest size Manns Minus-1 as well as a couple smaller size ones, and a SPRO Rat.  The Manns cost around $4 and the SPRO was the most expensive bait I had ever bought at the time, around $20

I have yet to catch a bass bigger than the bait with the SPRO Rat, The Large Manns Minus -1 has worked OK, and the smaller size ones are flat out fish catchers.

I don't fish that style of bait often, but if you do, I don't think you can go wrong with the Manns Minus -1  I don't see them listed on Tackle Wharehouse so they might not be in production anymore.  If that is the case, they will be worth more in a few years.

Mann's in no longer in business, so any you find now will be old stock.

The Baby 1 - in Bone/Orange has been a great bait for me. Just make sure to upgrade the split rings and trebles.

I've never used the tiny size.  The 1/4 ounce size works good this time of year, and the 3/8 ounce size usually starts working when the temps start to cool down.

The Mann's worked for me, but I think that the Subwart catches more bass.

I agree.  The discontinued Storm Subwart is the measurement everything else has tried to reach.

The Mann's isn't bad though.  Its just not as good as the subwart.

The closest I found to the subwart was the now discontinued Bass Pro XPS Super Shallow Crank or "the egg."  I stocked up on few of those before they stopped making them last year.

Just try to order some :)

I don't know. It looks like you can order them. I assumed it would work lol

I guess they should probably take the website down!

Sub Warts really rocked when I used to wade for Smallmouth, I still have a couple tucked away.  I remember once I climbed a thorn tree to get one back.  Mann's One Minus was another solid winner.

The large 5/8 oz One Minus was my best producer bank fishing in the swallow ponds around here. The shad color with a red/orange belly was my favorite. I could cast a mile and crank it back just above all the grass. I’d throw it on a 7’6 flipping stick. It would catch bass of all sizes down to some that the bait couldn’t even fit in their mouth. The big ones are hard to find anymore.

The -1 is a very sought after bait if you can find the earlier models. Not sure exactly how to tell which is which, but I see people looking for them often. I use to catch a lot of fish on a Baby -1 but haven't fished one in years despite carrying them still.
