Bass XL Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Hey guys, I am depending on you once again, I am wanting to buy a nice lowprofile baitcast worm reel, that can cast light lures, and price would be 150$ topps. Thanks, and I know you will help. Craig Quote

justfishin Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Abu 4600 C4-----eBay has a ton of them. Quote
harshman Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 The Abu 4600 isn't quite a low profile is it :-? :-? I suggest BPS Johnny Morris BC it has been one of the best bc I've owned in that price range and BPS has a great warranty po;icy if you have problems Simply take it back to the store within 1 yr and they give you a new one no shipping no questions asked. And if I'm no mistaken they are on sale right now for around $119 Harshman Quote

It has become my "work horse" in my rod and reel collection. I wish I could own a dozen of these reels. I was so impressed that my wife's first baitcaster purschase was a Johnny Morris. The braking system and smooth casting ability made it a perfect reel to teach a beginer versatile enough to fish any of the circumstances that I can throw it into. Keep up the great work. Super User dodgeguy Posted January 14, 2007 Super User Posted January 14, 2007 pflueger president narrow spool. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 14, 2007 Super User Posted January 14, 2007 Gotta keep the posse intact... I recommend keeping an eye on the Flea Market and buying a used Curado. The older model might be $99 or so. Quote
Fishin49er Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 You might want to check out the new Citica 100s, Ive heard they are a pretty sweet little reel and only 120 bucks. I have the 200 and really like it, but it wouldnt be the best for lite lures. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted January 14, 2007 Super User Posted January 14, 2007 Shimano Citica Garcia Revo S Pflueger President BPS JM reel, you can find bargains on ebay with these. BPS Extreme ETX10, great bang for the buck. Quote
Bass XL Posted January 14, 2007 Author Posted January 14, 2007 I am thinking about the revo or the j. morris... with the revo... Is the sx worth the extra 50$ other than the s? Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 14, 2007 Super User Posted January 14, 2007 I'll don't even spend that much on reels and have had good products. If you live in an area with the Dick's sporting goods chain check out the Daiwa Capricorn baitcaster. It's basicly a super tuned Procaster, great reels for less than $100. Also the regular Daiwa procaster is a great reel for $70, I have had one for 3 years and zero problems. I have 2 BPS Extreme's too, no complaints either. If I did want to spend more than $100 on a reel I think I would get either a Pflueger Presidant or Team Daiwa Advantage super tuned. I play with these reels alot when I am at BPS and if the ever go on sale I will snap on up (I am too cheap to pay full price for anything ;D ) Quote
dink Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 I would recommend the Revo S for reels in the $100 range. If you fish 100 - 200 days a year, you might want to stay away from BPS reels. I have yet to find one that I cannot wear out (i.e. worm gear, pawl, return springs, etc.) in two years or less. I currently have some Pfleugers that have been great so far. Another season or two will tell the tale on those. My next reel (or reels) will be Revos.... or maybe a Shimano. Quote

Bass XL Posted January 14, 2007 Author Posted January 14, 2007 no, No dick's stores around me, so you think I should get the revo s over the sx? Quote

I fish over 100 days per season and have 2 Extreme BC'er's that get used alot, one is 3 yers old, one is going into it's second full season this spring. I wil say I have never had a BPS spinning reel that was worth a crap. Quote
