My national womens team did it back to back in the Rivalry Series but I don't think the Cups been won like that in my life time.

That wasn’t in the final round though. It’s never been done in the final round in any of the 3 major pro sports, to my knowledge.

Does hockey count as one of those?

(It did happen in the NHL)

Yes, but to my understanding it hasn’t been done in the final round in NHL, NBA, or MLB.

I thought they said during the broadcast that one team forced a game 7 being down 0-3 but they did not win.

Edit: my source now says Toronto came back down 0-3 against Detroit in the 1942 finals.

How the state of FLA dominates hockey is a mystery we may never understand……..

It hurt to watch Dallas lose in the WCF twice in a row but I can't imagine being Florida and losing two straight SCF. Glad they won it. Now dallas just needs to stop playing trap hockey and depart from Steve Spott and life will be dandy

I know it just doesn't make much sense to me either.  Hockey in a swamp.  Who'd a thunk that.

Good leadership and jealousy

The Tkachuk move was a huge win for the Panthers.

He's not the best player but he is their glue.

@TnRiver46 they are mostly Canadian anyway the state has nothing to do with it.

Well if the state had nothing to do with it , then why was everyone cheering for Edmonton? I feel like it has at least something to do with it , fans, revenue, bragging rights, etc.

I bet the outside of the bldg is all sweaty when they play in FLA

@TnRiver46 A few years ago no fans wanted anything to do with the panthers because they were terrible. The team went  through a rebuild. My comment was directed at the players themselves. It’s not like the panther players are only or mostly from FL. In fact I am willing to bet there is no player from FL on that team. This is why I said the state location has nothing to do with the team doing well. 1993 was the last time a Canadian team won the Stanley cup.

Oh I have no doubt that its difficult to maintain good ice in swamp, especially in June, even in an NHL rink.  Heck, I play in a weekly men's league here in MN and when we start getting humid weather, I hang it up for the season because its just nasty in there and the ice quality takes a big hit.  That usually occurs around early to mid June.

The type of refrigeration being used plays a big role.  Old refrigeration is expensive and not nearly as effecient.  Newer refrigeration and maintaining the right humidity makes it a lot easier but even with the most modern arenas, it has to be tough in a swamp.

Then there's the fact that 18,000 warm bodies yelling and drinking beer show up which warms it up pretty quick too lol

Hockey?  Isn’t that the sport where fans throw catfish onto a big frozen pond?  I think we have that in Nashville.

They throw dead octopus on the ice too in Detroit.

Where does one even get a dead octopus in D town?  And how do they get it in the door?  Stuff it down their pants?  So many questions, and so few answers.
