Those who throw spook style walking baits on rivers, do you typically find the Jr/Pup size preferable to the original or do you think the original gets bigger bites?

I have been throwing the Teckle Kickknocker Pup, and while it is effective and produces numbers I’m wondering if I wouldn’t get bigger bites with the original (Super Spook/Kickknocker/Sexy Dawg.)

In your experience is it easier or harder to work? I would think bigger/heavier would instantly be easier to walk.

My advice (that I rarely follow*) is try both.  I generally prefer full size spook, but have had awesome days with Jr.  I think it has more to do with bait size, than bass size.

*Too often I am guilty of trying one or the other and moving on from topwater if I don't get reactions.  Even though I know and have experienced that changing size can make all the difference.   Only once in recent months did I persist....went from Super Spook to JR, and still felt I could get them to bite....changed to small popper and crushed big fish....for short time.   Bass drive me nuts

Yes lol figuring them out can be aggravating especially when they are being finicky. What do you prefer about Super Spook?

Lakes or rivers, the only surface walking hard bait I use is the Super Spook.
I tried the Jr and one other brand but didn’t like them.

The thing about the Super is that you can make it glide, walk in place or spin depending on your gear, conditions and how you work it.
I also like that the tail hook is designed to rotate which helps to keep her pinned if she only has one hook.

As far as if it is the reason it catches bigger fish I can’t answer that as it’s the only top water walking hard bait I use.

When the baby bass are fingerling size the Owner/Cultiva Zip ‘n Ziggy is hard to beat in baby bass color.

Fish most places I Fish the medium size baits work best. Walking baits around 4" work the best.

In river current the Super is less likely to "skip a beat" for me. But if it's super slick I like the small ones better.
