i have a 14 foot boat with a manual down rigger on one side and i want to troll with two people in it. i want to make sure that the lines don’t tangle with each other. yet the other person wants to put their line on the side side of the boat as the rigger which i’m using. At that time i ask the person to put their pole on the opposite side so the lines don’t get tangled up.

that person doesn’t want to listen to me.

If it is your boat, you are the captain and YOU make the rules.

It’s your boat making you the captain giving you the last word.

Consider offering a diving plane like Deep Six.

Why not  make him run it on a down rod? If you have baits tuned right and the hardest digging in the inside no reason they will get tangled.

if it’s my boat if someone doesn’t want to do something I tell them unless unsafe they can pee on a rope and watch it rust on the bank.

Im all for bringing friends and family with you when fishing, its nice not going alone.

But if i brought someone on my boat and they did that, and then didnt want to comply with my asking them nicely to do so.

Id be going by myself the next time and trolling with 2 rods.

Bring a board and spray paint plank on it, leave it on the side of the boat. Any issues point towards it and use your best pirate voice! (Walk the Plank for those who didnt watch Pirate movies)
