How do lmbs drive ya bonkers?

I hate how I'll hook them in actual water and they immediately plunge into a brushy shoreline. Like this:

 

 

 

Their instincts for freeing themselves are top tier, which is the product of 3,000,000 years of fine-tuning. What do lmbs do that drive you cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs?

Makes guys partially sink their rig to get under a bridge to access water otherwise 

only available to beavers.

 

On a personal level, maintain a valid passport, procure specialized tackle and baits, endure far too much air travel, (I hate airports & flying), drink way too much tequila, bake my brain in sub tropical heat and lose serious amounts of  sleep.  But sometimes it evens out.

Set the hook on a big bass and it keeps its mouth closed throughout the whole fight.   Reach down to lip it , the worm comes out and it swims away. Looking at the worm, the hook is still inside. Thats happenned to me twice the past couple of years. I sit there staring  stupidly .

When they're there. I know they're there. I can see they're interested in my lure, but they just won't bite. Their instincts make no sense to me and I can't figure them out sometimes. 

 

But I love bass, both largies and smallies. Some people fish as if the bass are their adversary. I fish like they're my friends. (The bass most definitely have different ideas about that.) Endless hours of fun and entertainment. If there's something driving me bonkers, it's probably something I'm doing.

After landing the bass, it will not thrash or shake until I reach down to remove the hook. Then it goes nuts trying to get that second set of treble hooks into my hand.

What scares me more than anything else is a trebled top water jump after a 35-40yd cast which is approx my limit. 
 

Not knowing if she has 1 or more trebles in her mouth or just a single hook of 1 treble makes me crazy. 

I don’t play with a fish after hooking, I horse em or ski em back.
Not knowing how it’s hooked scares me more than anything else when she jumps and I can’t keep her down long enough to get a closer look.

Well today one jumped totally out of the water about 3' from my kayak. No where near my lure. I think he was just mocking me.

Not being where they’re supposed to be. I research the crap out of things to discover where the fish are supposedly hanging out during whatever particular time of year and weather conditions…

 

and then they’re not there. Very aggravating at times.

To get to the most productive looking area in the entire lake, coming in stealth mode to prevent spooking, only to send a cast WAY off target and hang miserably....... blowing up the whole area.

Pretty much just those times when I struggle to keep 'em hooked up. Muskie are MUCH better at driving me bonkers.     Full disclosure: It's a pretty short drive for me.

@T-Billy might be short drive but I think you’re wired a little different, and not in a bad way at all. Everything I see from you tells me that you are a fisherman in the most ‘hunter’ way possible. Always out there in the elements, always on the hunt. Day or night. Nothing fancy - just grit.

The influence LMB has on the Bait Monkey.  Other fish species and the Bait Monkey may be friends, but the Large Mouth Bass and the Bait Monkey are soul mates.

when you are night fishing in pitch black, half asleep at 2am and get your top surface lure right next to the boat and they explode like you just hit an anti ship mine. The mix of excitement, rage, fear and choice words in the air make you question your actual health afterwards.

That’s a win, more meat on a bass and they are better tasting than bluegill and crappie
