I fished a Bass Nation kayak tournament today and met to BR members, @Hook2Jaw and @Wprich

Both were great guys to meet up with. @Hook2Jaw and I had communicated here on BR hoping to meet up today and while out on the lake he pulled up and introduced himself.

While I was trailering at the ramp @Wprich was landing and he surprised me by saying, “I know you but I don’t know you. BR, right?”

Anyway, two nice guys and it was great to meet some BR members in real life.

I did also at our get together on Wilson Lake about 10 yrs ago now I guess.

It’s always nice to put a face to name.

@Koz was great running into you yesterday wish I could have stayed around and chatted a bit more had to rush off to find phone service to turn my fish in before time was up🤣🤣🤣.

I believe I met @Hook2Jaw also now that I think about it.  He pulled up thinking I was someone else(maybe you since you and I have same yak) and we had a quick chat.

I realized that without cell service in the area that you needed to get out quick and upload your photos.

I had a little adventure with cell service myself when I couldn’t get Apple maps or Google maps to load to find my way home.

My Ford Navigation finally loaded and it ended up taking me down a path - not a real road, a narrow path that included a rickety, barely one lane wooden bridge.

I cant meet any of you for a while. My wife recently redid our insurance and asked if $1000 in fishing tackle coverage was enough....well now she knows what I have in the boat and I cant afford any of you talking me into something else 😂

It was awesome to meet you both, @Koz and @Wprich.  I had a terrible event.  Put up about 75" in practice cranking and dropshotting some select marker poles and points I'd found out there on Friday, and hoped to run that pattern again.

It worked, sort of.  I caught about 10 spots with a largemouth or two mixed in but only one was big enough to go on the board and it flipped off.  Beyond that, I broke off a good fish really deep, about 30', on a Petey rigged fluke, and that's basically how my day started with another break shortly after that on the dropshot which was also a good fish.  Then I mixed the ten fish in dropshotting and cranking.  Towards the end of the day, totally spun out and angry but still trying to rally, I broke off another good fish near the Dry Fork boat ramp in a big standing cypress tree in 25 FOW.

That's the first event I've ever zeroed in.  Oh well, three rivers in a little bit and I'm practicing and launching forty minutes from the house.  Hopefully I can still manage to get a top ten and make the state championship.

Way cool to hear about BR members meeting up!  I'm fishing a Texas BASS nation event this weekend on Toledo Bend.  I'm not sure if any BR members are fishing it. Maybe one will see this and we can get together for dinner or swap notes from prefishing. Planning on getting there Thursday and getting on the water for half a day Thursday and all day Friday for a good prefish!

That was the toughest lake I've fished this year I spent the last 2 Saturdays practicing since I had never fished it before.  First Saturday I only caught 4(1 scoreable) in 8 hours and the Saturday before the event I caught 13(4 scoresble).  Only thing I came up with from practice was to run the few laydowns and shallow brushpiles I found and hit a bridge if need be.
Caught over 20 total Saturday but only 7 were keepers and made a pretty small limit mostly on the shaky head.  I didn't fish clean though lost a couple largemouth in the laydowns and had a knot to come undone on a fish I scoped.  This lake/tournament was the first time I felt the need to use my livescope to catch a few fish and must admit it was pretty cool watching them eat and chase my baits.  Caught my first 2 livescope fish last Saturday while practicing and caught 7 more doing it during the tournament.
I've only been able to fish 2 of the GA Bass Nation events this year but luckily I did well enough at Chatuge to make the championship hope to see you guys at Hartwell for it.

Losing fish off the board is frustrating. I did see a video of a guy who stands his net up along the left rail and he says he hasn’t lost a fish since doing that.

I’m going to try that and also get one of those identifier card holders to clip to the Ketch board.

Ideally I could also come up with a swing arm selfie stick to quickly get my phone in place for the photo.

That's what I do(knock on wood) every fish that's jumped off my board has jumped into the net or into the yak floor20240615_074122.jpg.b3606b8f03559e7405473e88a54da88d.jpg

Yeah, I've used my net to stop fishing from coming off the side before.  It works very well.  I haven't tried it on the PWR129 yet, but I'm sure there's a way.  Normally I do just fine keeping fish on the board and it's been several years since I had a flop-off.  The whole event was a major crash and burn for me.
