I think we've reached 'Truth'.  Except the small boat is the part that is far-fetched.  400s are out there.  And maybe not too many 50" screens, but plenty of guys operating with more total sq in.

Since I’ve been alive for awhile now, began this sport/hobby at 3, joined B.A.S.S at 13, I’ve seen a lot of change. I remember when I was approved to buy a Ranger in 1989..

In fact, fishing was way more accessible in those days in my opinion.

It’s totally an Elite sport now, out of reach of most folks.. at some point the bubble will burst, we’re not quite there yet..

The only truth I see is people still let Livescope live rent free in their heads.

Wait.. you talking about Randy right? 🤣🤣🤣 I know it ain’t me because I’m out of consideration now. Besides that I think it’s cool tech, if it survives which I suspect it does, the fish will eventually catch on and it will be on to the next cool thing🤣🤣

Yes sir 😉

I catch with Livescope & I catch without Livescope.

I get skunked with Livescope & I get skunked without Livescope.

I used to think 30 rods, huge boats, all the electronics, a mini tackle shop on board etc etc was all ridiculous until I thought about my main hobby: gaming. Sure, I could use the TV and the cheap $60 controller and call it a day. But I have a $500 console, with a $400 240 hz gaming monitor, a $240 controller, a $200 headset, etc etc etc. But I normally just beat the banks with a rod or two and a small backpack to keep mobile and to limit my options so I'm not stuck in the loop of changing baits constantly and getting nowhere. People put money into their passions. Not sure FFS is a good thing though. Can't use drones to hunt but you can use these to video game fish. Doesn't make much sense and probably isn't great long term.

Fishing is not an elite sport, I did it for years on poverty wages. Keeping up with the Jones’s is an elite sport and it ain’t just in fishing

Wait for the next gen in the livescope technology. Once it detects the fish and identifies the type of fish based on the size, shape and location, it will overlay the correct colors of that fish that will give each fish a realistic identity as it moves on screen.

...or will it? :)

@AlabamaSpothunter has claimed this is already being done by some scopers.  Apparently some of them can tell the difference if they get the correct angle and shape of the fish.

Certainly larger species like muskies and paddlefish look far different than species like bass.  In those case I would say you can already detect the difference.

Wasn’t quite that bad, but pulled into the parking lot yesterday of a local lake and saw a small aluminum tracker with a 10hp engine with 4 big screen Garmins (12s and/or 16s?);  two on the console and two on the front deck - looked almost as ridiculous. Just shook my head and chuckled. They left before I could snap a pic.

Yeah no doubt the scope wizards can ID fish type and size.

These guys say that most fish are actually pointing directly at the transducer because they're aware of the sonar.   They talk about "fanning" the transducer back and forth in order to get the fish to change body orientation thereby revealing the size of the fish.   They all say the monster Bass have a clear separation b/t body and tail, and I've even observed this on YT videos that show the graph.   Some of these guys have their units so dialed in with big enough screens that you can really see the shape of the fish.     I can't even fathom what future generations of FFS will be able to interpret and put on a graph.

In terms of species, the savants use it so much that they can ID fish type by the way they're set up, swimming/lack of swimming, and ultimately the reaction they get from putting a bait on their noses.

The savants also routinely mis identify bass for catfish.

If I want to go fish, I go fish. If I want to catch fish off a screen, I stay home and use the gaming system.

Technology can be good and bad. I believe all of this new high tech stuff could be better served in other uses. It is not really fishing anymore, when you see everything in the lake, it then becomes harvesting. I like being out in nature, figuring it out on my own, and not staring at a screen. Besides, a bassboat that resembles a jet cockpit looks stupid to me, but to each his own.

Think Zaldain has enough screens on his rig? 4 in the cockpit and at least 4 probably 5 in the bow. Does he get Paramount Plus on that system?

The ironic thing is that Zaldain is a rather poor FFS angler, he admits as much.   I like him and watch a lot of his YT content, but he's way behind the tech curve.

I think this is actually a great example of what we discussed in the PM.......he knew that if he wanted to be competitive, he had to embrace the technology, but ultimately, he's way behind the curve because he just this year really tried to embrace the tech and learn it.

These guys feel pressured into buying all these graphs, multiple transducer locations, crappie brakes, etc.    The guys who are really dialed in with FFS will tell you all they need is one LVS 34 and a 12" graph.

He's still packing $25k in tech though......2 console graphs, 3 bow graphs, and a pair of crappie brakes

That's proven by the HUGE engine on the back of the tiny boat, but everyone is talking about livescope.

The overpowered boats that flit around, make 2 or 3 casts then take off wide open somewhere else are a threat to many of us.  The screens blocking their view just makes them a bigger threat.
