bitman Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Or will it have too much memory? I oput some 10 pound vanish on my spinning set up and it seems good but Im afraid it might get alot of memory? WHat do you think. Danny Quote
Super User T-rig Posted January 11, 2007 Super User Posted January 11, 2007 fluorocarbon does have alot of memory. it works good for cranking but for worms etc. i would you use braid with a fluorocarbon leader. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted January 11, 2007 Super User Posted January 11, 2007 It's been a long time since I used vanish but what I remember was the excessive memory it had. Quote
Guest Texas_Bass_Pro Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Flourocarbon will be fine on your spinning gear. I use it for both, spinning and baitcaster. I wouldn't over load your spool with it. Quote
justfishin Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 If you mean pure Flouro, I will make it short and sweet, no. Quote
Hawgin Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 On Tuesday night I went to a seminar by Mike Iaconelli and someone asked him what line he uses. He said he uses Vanish (obviously), but to avoid the memory, when he is spooling the line on the rod he takes a cloth and sprays it with a silicone spray, like KVD's line conditioner, and he runs the line through that cloth as he is putting it on. He said that helps eliminate a lot of the memory. Quote
foul hooked Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Don't over spool and you should be fine. Quote
HPBB Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 first off I don't like 100% flourocarbon lines for main lines, leaders are a different story. vanish, has to much memory for me. on my spinning reels it would come off like a big "slinky" Since you have it, try the sprays. Like KVD's or reelmagic it will help. I started using flourcarbon poly lines, like them alot better, still some memory, but nothing like the vanish. Try P-line floroclear. a friend got me to try it about 3 years ago on lake erie. Up there flourocarbon lines are a must. the water is clearer than clear. I was using vanish and complaining about it all day. He gave me P-LIne to respool and I have been using it since. Infact I use it on most of my reels now. Like I said nomatter what flourcabon line or poly line you use, get some spray reel magic or KVD's. spray it on the line a few times each fishing trip and the line will be alot more workable. Use the cloth when spooling but when fishing just spray the line on the reel. Quote
Deuceu72 Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I use Fluro all the time on spinning gear and I have had no trouble at all.........I never use more than 10 lb test and ALWAYS use Seaguar........... Quote
cbfishalot Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 For deep, clear, rocky lakes it is a must. Line conditioner really helps to prevent twist. P-line or seaguar would be a good choice I have not used vanish or gamma so I can't speak for them. Going to experiment with using powerpro with a fluorocarbon leader with my jerkbaits this year. Deuceu72: How about filling my reels up with some of those 1,000 yd. spools of seaguar INVIZX you picked up this winter!!! LOL Quote
Deuceu72 Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 uh...................................NO................................Get your own! ;D ;D ;D Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 11, 2007 Super User Posted January 11, 2007 I have tried both Seagur and P-Line. So far I like P-Line the best. The Seagur I tried had the most memory out of any line I have ever used, was very brittle and broke easily after it go wet. I might I have gotten a bad spool because everyone else I have talked to holds Seagur line in high regards. Quote
Deuceu72 Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Fishtank..............That does suprise me! I swear by Seaguar. I have never found it to be brittle at all..........Maybe it had been on the shelf too long............You might want to try again...... Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 12, 2007 Super User Posted January 12, 2007 I would use no more than 10 lb. test flouro on spinning tackle. I tried 12 lb. Vanish on a spinning reel last summer and the results were quite frustrating. Like fishing with a slinky. I am going to use 6 lb. Vanish on my UL trout rig this spring to see how well it works. I am getting tired of using 4 lb. test mono. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 12, 2007 Super User Posted January 12, 2007 Deuceu72, I tried the carbonpro in either 12lb or 15lb, I can't remember. One other weird thing about it was that at first it was very stretchy. I remember getting snagged and the line stretched about 5-10 feet. After fishing this stuff for about four days, I replaced. It cost me about $50 worth of lures. I might try it again since has been recommended by so many people. Have you tried the Invizx line yet? If so, any good? Quote
Pa Angler Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 A fellow angler and I tried it on spinning gear and it flew of the spool like a SLINKY TOY the answer is NO. I have found it to be a bit stiff of a line I use a co-poly or braid on mine. Chow Quote

Chow I agree with PA Angler I use spinning tackle almost exclusively, and in my opinion, fluorocarbon is horrific stuff, and has no place on spinning gear! In fact, I even stopped using fluorocarbon leaders. The fluoro they use for leader material kinks almost as badly as wire Oh Here Fluoro....Cum'on Girl Roger Quote
Garnet Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I use Vanish don't over fill and don't fill your spool and fish in the morning. If you just leave it for a few days it nicer to work with. Worth the effort in gin water. Garnet Quote
