ksdog Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I'm a shore caster using baitcasting gear and am looking for an excellent casting mono or braid that gives me distance, sensitivity, and strength. The line should be easy to manage, no wind knots. Your recommendations.... Quote

Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted January 12, 2007 Super User Posted January 12, 2007 Gamma Copolymer I was using Yo-Zuri Hybrid most of last year on just about all my rigs (also an excellent option). I read/heard some good things about Gamma so I gave it a try on a test basis on one of my rigs. I like experimenting with different equipment. LOVED IT!!!! It seemed to cast a little better than the Yo-Zuri and was a little tougher and is also VERY strong. Both Yo-Zuri Hybrid and and the Gamma Copolymer overtest their ratings with the Gamma being slightly stronger. This year I am going pure Gamma. Quote

Guest avid Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 KS dog. Welcome to the forum. Your learning that any post that starts off with "what is the best...." is gonna draw 10 different answers, and that's only from the first five guys ;D Seriously. You want what we all want. A line that is strong, thin, invisible, not to stretchy, sensative, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. I like braid, but the limpness causes the wind knots, not to mention it wraps around everything. But that can reduced, with practice. I like Trilene big game for most non mono situations, but I recently bought a spool of P-line cxx. Don't be surprised if a big guy (whose name I won't mention) but his initials are RW suggests you try yo-zuri hybrid ultra soft. Good luck and have fun. avid Quote
