Super User roadwarrior Posted January 10, 2007 Super User Posted January 10, 2007 Sounds to me like you now have a nice crankbait rod! Going technique specific has tremendous benefits, but as you have discovered, there are some risks. I am sure you will be happy with the rod, you may just have to use it for another presentation. Super User flechero Posted January 10, 2007 Super User Posted January 10, 2007 I'm surprised that Sportsman's would make you keep it... worst case I could see you paying their return shipping. You might check with the mgr, to be sure... every experience I have ever had (read that as MANY, MANY) with Sportsman's has been great. Curious as to one thing though... you couldn't find a buzzbait rod in stock at Sportsman's??? Our's has a huge selection of rods. good luck, if you get stuck with it, maybe it's a good backup rod for other techniques. Quote
kbkindle Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 kb here i have not taken rod back and won't he told me up front that if he had to order that there was no return its not the first mistake i have made and like rw said i will find a use for it.. its just that we were talking about this a month ago and about everyone said they wanted to handle a rod befor buying kb Quote
Super User Marty Posted January 11, 2007 Super User Posted January 11, 2007 Have you used other medium baitcasting rods? Because it sounds like what you are saying, without actually saying it, is that Okuma rods don't meet your standard of what a medium power rod should be. Quote
scbassin Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I don't think any med rod is heavy enough for buzzbaits. You would need a M/H to Heavy for that bait. Like R/W said you have a good crank bait rod now. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted January 11, 2007 Super User Posted January 11, 2007 Don't worry about it kb, I've bought rods that felt good but didn't fish worh a d**n on the water. I'm not real familiar with Okuma's freshwater line of equipment. They make pretty good SW stuff. You'll find something to do with that rod or we'll see it up for sale here in the flea market. Quote
