rboat Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 I don't really like the new TW sales. They pick and chose what goes on sale. The old sales had everything, or almost everthing at a discount. I hope they bring back the old sales, maybe for the 4th of July. I need some stuff but none of it was on their recent spring or summer sale. I still shop there, but have cut way back due to this new sale format. What do you think? 1 Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted June 7, 2024 Super User Posted June 7, 2024 manufacturers are the ones that determine what gets put on sale. They provide sales incentives, discounted prices, or other financial support for sales. If you don't like what's on sale, look at the mannufacturer, not the seller. The seller only puts things on sale by their choice if they have a major overstock. And even then a big retailer would go back to the manufacturer for financial support for overstocking them. Quote

That doesn't really make sense, why did their old sales, that they had for years every holiday, have almost everything on sale 15 or 20% 22 minutes ago, gimruis said: Plenty of other places to buy tackle from. I guess you and Mn fisher are right maybe I need to look around at others sales. Sometimes we get stuck in patterns. The best thing about fishing gear is many places sell it and competition is good. Peacedivision Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 I do miss the stealth discounts on restricted brands, but their sales are still decent and being in CA anything in stock is delivered overnight so they still get my business. Quote

(So says the bait monkey). if sales are much lower than anticipated for the quarter/year then they might do that for a limited time (flash sale) to boost product flow. However that’s not a good strategy long term for business. To do that, you’re basically buying inventory at full (wholesale) price and selling it for cut (retail) price. That’s the way to dilute your margins very quickly. Less margin means less operating profit. now what happens is manufacturers will sell them the product cheaper for a sale period to promote volume on their side. But not all manufacturers take part. That’s why you will basically never see Falcon rods on sale anywhere. They don’t do this type of promotion. On the other hand, Pure fishing does it all of the time with every sale. if you want to get 10-20% off at TW, buy a bunch of gift cards when they go on sale at Christmas time. That’s the only guarantee way. Quote

JJP Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 If it’s something that is excluded from the sale I’ve called them and they ended up giving me the discount anyway Quote
Super User Spankey Posted June 8, 2024 Super User Posted June 8, 2024 My biggest pet peeve has not been the sales or stock of items but the password situation I’m into to log into my account. My password doesn’t stay maintained. Gonna have a call to them. Don’t know if y’all agree but I find since Covid has really diminished many many retailers and on-line no longer have stock of a lot of items I use. It’s not a matter of anglers buying these thing up but just nonexistent. Can’t buy line the way I want to. Quote

THE_Vue's Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Call other small local vendors that carry name brand that are typically excluded. Some will do deals some won't. Wait for expos probbaly your best bet for deals off everything. Very lucky to get New GLX rod 25 percent off. Wasn't like back in 2014 when everything was cheaper and 40 percent off everything at TW during the classic sales. You guys remember that? Killer deal Quote
