JigNBig Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 hey i currently have a spinning outfit and a baitcasting outfit that i use for bass. spinning being an ABU GARCIA and the other being a cheap shakespeare i bought for $40. do you have any inexpensive selections for baitcasting gear that i can throw anything in my tackle box on exept crankbaits which i will use the existing combo for? no huge fish in the lake just hoping to catch some good ole bass Quote
Fishin49er Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 A combo that has served me nicely is the Daiwa Procaster Tournament on a BPS Graphite Series rod and it only cost me 60 dollars. Im guessing the one you have is Medium power so if you get a Medium Heavy power you should be able to throw about anything, between the two. Quote
cbrown Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Bass Pro's Shimano® Citica® Reel and Extreme XPS Rod Combos are great for the $. I have a couple of these and they are great rods and I really like Shimano reels. The citica compares to sacred green Curado. Not sure what the budget limit is but these are tough to beat at $140. I would agree that a MH rod will cover your fishing needs. CJ Quote
Vermelho Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 For an inexpensive yet very good reel, I suggest considering the Quantum Accurist 2 (AC500CX). They come in three colors (which is pretty cool), they are built solid, palm well, have an excellent braking system (externally adjustable), are smooth, cast well, and tough as nails. A review on Tackle Tour listed them as a "Best Value": http://www.tackletour.com/reviewquantaccurist2.html They list for 79.95, but you can find them on sale much cheaper. Currently, I use the saltwater version of the Accurist and I am quite impressed. I like it better than my older Curados. I hope this helps. Verm Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted January 10, 2007 Super User Posted January 10, 2007 For $119 from Bass Pro Shops you can either get the Daiwa Procaster/Bionic Blade combo, or the Extreme reel/Extreme rod combo. I have both......the procaster is the better reel, and the extreme is the better rod........but the extreme reel or bionic blade rod are also great products. You get a good deal either way. Quote
