I appreciate the pros out there that can give us an answer. I have a MotorGuide xi-5. Brand new lower end installed by authorized dealer. It hasn’t been in the water yet. I spun the prop by hand and it clicks every 10 degrees or so. I have a memory of a smooth spin manually. Am I losing my mind or do you think I may have an issue. Thank you in advance for your expertise.

Talk to the folks that made the repair, they should know.....

The only time mine makes a clicking sound is when it's folded on the bow and I hit the switch 😳.

I would see what it does in the water but I have 3 trolling motors in the garage that makes no sound when spinning the prop.

I have the X3 and it doesn’t make any noise when turning the prop.

I would definitely contact the repair shop. If they say it’s fine, please post their response as I would like to see why.

It shouldn't be making any noise.  But it's possible, if they switched out the brushes, that it just needs time for the new brushes to set, especially if they just used generic brushes.  Or it could be something else rubbing and causing damage.  It's hard to say without know what's making the sound.

i changed the brushes on my autopilot and it clicked.  Not sure if it was every 10 degrees, but it was regular and with the RPMs of the prop.  I think its gone now so they just needed a little time to bed in and wear off the edges.  I'd still contact the shop that did it and ask.
