LionHeart Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Was watching a Tactical Bassn video and surprised to see that they recommended a Kastking reel for BFS. I have no experience with Kastking, and definitely am no reel snob, but always for some reason thought they were budget reels that put affordability above all. I just check their website and they have what I would consider to be some fairly high priced reels. Did they up their game lately? or just their prices? Or have they always been good? Just seems like the only time I've heard of them is regarding affordability. Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted June 1, 2024 Super User Posted June 1, 2024 I have a KK Zephyr bfs reel. It's very smooth for it's price tag, and will keep up with my curado bfs in casting distance, but the spool to frame gap is too big, and allows any line under 8# mono to get in there and bind up. I also recently bought two KK Rovers for live bait muskie rigs. So far they've been flawless and I think they're a lot of reel for the money. They're basically a Chinese built ambassadeur with a bait clicker for $50-$60. 1 Quote
Eric 26 Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 I’m going to beat the proverbial dead horse again. As I’ve said a few times on here before 🤔probably too many times 🤪 The biggest problem is parts support, not that it has stopped me before and probably won’t in the future either. The second problem is on some of the lower end reels the adjustments made ie tension knob just doesn’t seem to hold and winds up varying from tight to loose without frequent checking. With that said I have 3 Piscifun Carbon X spinning reels and I have and still will recommend as a bang for the buck reel, a Piscifun Saex Elite casting reel and lastly a Kastking Royal Legend 2 casting reel that is a 5 speed in left hand that doesn’t see much action but I just can’t seem to get rid of it and when I think I will I wind up using it and thinking it serves its purpose. Lastly I just purchased a Kastking rod that I really like but a 1 year warranty on a $120.00 rod that said warranty has a few complaints about made me a little nervous. So again in a long winded way ask about parts support. 1 Quote
