Comfortably Numb Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 The documentary video about the hunt for world record bass, Dottie, used to be on YouTube. Now I only see a three minute version. Anyone have or know where I can get the full version to show at my local fishing club meeting? Ty https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LBhSkCd7xM&ab_channel=NationalGeographic 3 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted June 1, 2024 Super User Posted June 1, 2024 The afternoon before they snagged her, they offered another guy who was sitting on top of her a couple thousand dollars to turn over the spot......the other guy declined. They made sure they were first in line when the lake opened the next morning, and that's when they snagged her. All three worked at Casinos IIrc, they worked nights, and fished during the day for her. 1 Quote

Karmic forces in the universe may be totally non-existent, but in this instance, it's as if they were in full force. It was proven that such a fish did exist, but nobody gets to have an official world record for having caught her. And she got to live out her life in the waters where she came from instead of being an exhibit in an aquarium. RIP Miss Dottie! 3 Quote

I really hope I get to see another 25lb LM in my lifetime, but I highly, highly doubt that will happen. Ken Duke said it best, when she was caught every Bass angler in world went "I didn't know they could get that big" 4 Quote
