Looking to get a new jig rod, particularly the Dobyns Champion XP 744C. Would this rod be good for pitching around light to moderate vegetation and near timber or should I go up in an extra power? 3/8oz jigs with straight braid.

I can't speak to the Champ, but I have the Kaden 744c  and it would serve you well for what you describe plus a bunch of other stuff, senkos, Trigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits... It's a very versatile rod.

I have that rod and it work just fine for that. Any thick(er) stuff and I grab a different rod.
