Jonny15678 Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Looking at the Dobyns xtasy series for a Texas rig rod. I fish in water less than 10ft deep usually with sparse to dense cover. Anywhere from 1/4oz to 3/8oz bullet weight. Would this rod work good for a Texas rig or am I over paying for what I need. Quote
PBBrandon Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 I have a DRX755 SH that I use for Texas rigs around cover. Excellent rod, and Texas rigs are a technique you want to shell out the money for. Feeling the bottom and feeling bites are paramount. there aren’t many rods out there that transmit vibrations like an Xtasy. Lighter cover like light grass or laydowns the 754 would be perfect, however if you are fishing heavier cover (thick mats and grass) a 755 would be better at horsing fish out of it. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 27, 2024 Super User Posted May 27, 2024 Right now during the Memorial Day sales is a good time to buy higher end tackle. ALF I believe has great deals Dobyns rods. Price is something only you can decide on. Tom 1 Quote
softwateronly Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 I also have a 755, and use it for large worms in heavy cover. Also a great swim jig rod in heavy cover. Yes it costs more, but it's very enjoyable to fish, hope it works for you too. scott Quote
