Super User ChrisD46 Posted May 26, 2024 Super User Posted May 26, 2024 In the past I’ve been acBooyah Pad Crasher / Pop’n Pad Crasher user . However of late it appears Booyah changed out the hooks and the body material is different - both seem cheaper made to me now . That said , I’m going to try the Spro Bronze Eye and the the JT Kenney designed Scum Frogs to find a new favorite . What are your current frogs you are doing well with ? Quote
Super User Bird Posted May 26, 2024 Super User Posted May 26, 2024 Spro bronze eye is all I throw, Snakeheads love them too. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted May 26, 2024 Global Moderator Posted May 26, 2024 Scum Frogs I used them all at one time or another but always go back I prefer the original ones as nothing made is as soft and easy to walk in place. Mike 6 Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted May 26, 2024 Global Moderator Posted May 26, 2024 @ChrisD46 Green/Pepper is the only color I use now with a black one just for a change of pace. They work 80%-90% of the time for me down here. Mike Quote
Big Swimbait Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 I had a great past three days on the Toad Thumper Bull Toad Swamper. It was almost too good as they ate it so well, I gill hooked a few. ☹️ Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted May 26, 2024 Super User Posted May 26, 2024 Just bought this so newest favorite Swamp Lord nice soft body but one hook dull had to sharpen. 3 Quote
nso123 Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 I have been getting lots of blow ups on Scum Frogs, but my hookup ratio is low. Soft plastic horny toads on a 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG have been really good for me with near 100% hookups. Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted May 26, 2024 Super User Posted May 26, 2024 Still the Pad Crasher, although I haven't bought any new ones in a few years. I like the Pad Perch too. 1 Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted May 26, 2024 Super User Posted May 26, 2024 I’m still on the pad crasher and the jr. version. I wish they were a little heavier but I’m not going to worry much about it. They walk great. Hooks are sharp. I tend to throw sunburn as my default (medium brown) but if it’s overcast or nearer dark I’ll throw black. Sunny and bright I’ll also throw disco ball. Quote
keagbassr Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 I'll preface my thoughts by saying that imo the pre-abt snagproof phat frogs were the best frog I ever used. But when they were discontinued I went looking for a replacement. I've settled on the scumfrog trophy series which has served me well the last few years,.however I've not caught a 5+lb. Fish on one yet. And I will give the new abt phat frog a shot soon. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted May 26, 2024 Super User Posted May 26, 2024 I have more Pad Crashers, but most of the time I'm fishing with a Spro frog. Quote
Dye99 Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Ive tried so many frogs over the years but the one I use nowadays is the Lunkerhunt compact. Little smaller but that thing works for me. 1 Quote
GRiver Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 I’m with @Dye99 I use Lunkerhunt too, also I like BPS humping toads. When you pause they have a real slow sinking action, that works for me in the spots in between the pads. Quote
Pat Brown Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Strike King Pad Perch and Scum Frog Launch Frog. 1 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted May 27, 2024 Super User Posted May 27, 2024 Scumfrog Original. Green or White. 2 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted May 27, 2024 Global Moderator Posted May 27, 2024 The Padcrasher has been my go to for quite some time now. I have enough of them to last me quite a while so if they have changed I’m not too worried for now. Quote
papajoe222 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 If you decide to go with a ScumFrog, make sure the line tie is closed completely, especially if you tie a loop knot. You can guess how I know. I really like the LiveTarget hollow body frog. Last season, I believe it was the only one I threw. Quote

TheSwearingAngler Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Another vote for the Lunkerhunt Compact Frog… both these came on it yesterday. I’ve had hit or miss luck as far as durability but they get bit and I have utmost confidence in them. 3 Quote
Functional Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Scum Frog in Chartreuse or Zoom horny toad skimmed/jerked across the top if that counts. 1 Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted May 29, 2024 Author Super User Posted May 29, 2024 I am going to buy one each of a new Booyah Popp'n Pad Crasher color and one new color of the original Pad Crasher to check the claims that the hooks and plastic body recipe have been changed to cheapen the frog (as compared to the original Booyah frog hooks and body composition) . Super User bowhunter63 Posted May 29, 2024 Super User Posted May 29, 2024 Bobby’s Perfect Frog. Snag Proof Black or White Quote
5by3 Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Berkley swamp lord is my new favorite. They’re really soft, my hookup ratio went through the roof. 1 Quote
waymont Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Scum Frogs and Pad Crashers. I haven't noticed any difference in the newer ones at all. Quote
