Anonymouse-_-Ace Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Hey I'm from the finger lake region lakes closest to me are hemlock, conesus, Canadise and honeoye. I don't always have access to a boat and when I do it's normally just a basic kayak. My question Is has anyone had any luck on these lake from the shore for walleye and if so where abouts and how do you go about fishing them from the shore. Talked to an old timer today and he said to try near the hoyoye marina and cast under the docks. But I just wanted to hear what you guys had to say. Happy fishing and tight lines. Thank you in advance for any advice. Quote
BassinCNY Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Honeoye's pretty shallow so it's probably too late for walleye from the shore. The water's too warm. You'll have to wait for fall. The good news is that there are always bass! 1 Quote

Once it reaches about 70 degrees, they generally stick to cooler waters. 75 degrees is the absolute thresh hold. They are sucking for air on the bottom in deep water when it gets to that point. They are generally nocturnal feeders so avoid fishing during the day when the sun it out, especially from shore in shallow water. Go when its cloudy or raining. Or go at night time. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted May 27, 2024 Super User Posted May 27, 2024 As mentioned fish after dark from rip rap shorelines & marinas. Look for bait fish & usually when you find them the walleye will be there. Quote
