Its been a while since Megabass hasn't tuned a Daiwa reel, and released it under their name. The last one being based off of a Tatula was bleh. Now that Megabass is much bigger than what they were, isn't it time for them to come back in the reel market? They used to work on Daiwa reels, and they were great, but wouldn't it be cool to see them back in the reel market, but this time around, maybe, as the manufacturers? There is no shot a freshly redesigned Monoblock that is comfier to palm than a conquest 100 wouldn't sell out. We need new cool looking reels cuz those generic silver, or black reels from Daiwa and Shimano got old years ago.

2) My age & that I already have more than I can use

Take a modern Daiwa reel and put the Megabass name on it. Add 25% if not more to its cost.

It would either be the rich or collectors that would buy it. Most people wouldnt think a different color makes it worth more than something thats the same for alot less.

And if they made one themselves it would probably be even more expensive.

They dont have the supplies, contacts, machining, plans/blueprints/schematics, decades worth of parts, tools, knowledge.

Starting from scratch would be quite an expensive leap for them. And they, well any company is in the business of making money. If it costs them alot itll cost you double.

Most modern reels require little to no modifications, sure some people like to go all out changing some of the internal/external parts to their liking. But thats not a large group. They wouldnt make the money now they made then. Since well these reels already come out of the box amazing.

But it would be really great if a group of people started doing really cool custom painted reels, ive always customized the paint/decals/graphics on almost anything ive ever owned, in every hobby. Except fishing, ive just left everything the way it came.... But if there was a place i could just send my frames to get some really unique designs painted on, and then just get it back and put it together that would be great. These reels all look the same, plain, basic, boring. Even my Zillion could use some color.

I wonder how well they would do if they ran a few daiwa reels without the t-wing? I'm sure I would be priced out, but a 21 Zillion with a standard line guide would pretty much be my dream reel.

^ This. Exactly.

I'll stick to my "overpriced" ABUs.

I can’t see Megabass Offering a reel under three hundred bucks and there are far too many phenomenal reels. Right now at well below that price.

I'm definitely not in the market, even for a nice Pagani, which would be my Ito choice (Monoblock might be nice, too).

What you gain with Megabass, Mr. Ito's choice of styling, trim components, and his bench tuning.

@ATA gave us the OP "Too Pretty to Fish" - Megabass could fit that niche, and even be an investment remaining NIB - there will always be a Japan collector's market for these.

Certainly with Pagani, compared to Isuzu-bench sister 520X Chimera, the difference is all styling.

Does Zillion get better performance or simply see-through side plates - rhetorical question.  Have to hope drive, clutch and spool are also improved.

Daiwa and Shimano make reels that are too good and too reasonably priced (buying JDM) to consider anything else IMO

Just for the fun of it, I would like a Zillion SV that looks like a TDZ Ito with all the internal upgrades and a shallow spool.

It should be a Steez reel.  The Megabass IP reels were Zillions.  I could go for a Megabass Zillion but the Zillion HD sort of already has that Megabass IP vibe.

No. It'd just be another slicked up Daiwa. They couldn't easily improve the Shimano's which is why they choose Daiwa. 😁

Seriously when my reels are what's preventing me from catching fish, I might. The problem is usually that thing between my ears.

I would love to see Megabass release some worked over Daiwa reels. They add the "bling" factor.

Not sure I would buy one though if the price is outrageous. SLP Works released a Millionaire CT last year that looked fantastic. Limited release though, and all were pre-sold. Available on ebay

for $1500 plus or minus which is ridiculous.

This is the way.  Daiwa makes so many models with parts that are cross compatible, one can make their own any way they see fit.  Choose your platform and go to work.  As @bulldog1935 says, who needs Ito?

Here's my latest; Alphas Ito Ai gear set, 1012 SV G1 spool, Alphas Air handle, nut, and spool cap, Alphas pinion shaft, PX68 star wheel, and red RCS knobs.  It bombs anything from 1/8 on up.

I had a SV Boost PE 1000 in there previously, but the inductor was sticking and half of the casts resulted in fluff.  I wanted to love the spool because it was beautiful when it was working correctly, but it just didn't pan out.  I sent it back and got the 1012 SV G1 instead and now this reel is doing what I had hoped.
