I've handled the Victory and own LTB models. You will have more sensitivity, better quality cork, and I believe guides are better. I also like the foregrip being a little shorter and the locking nut on the legend is metal. Both great options in their price ranges. Don't forget the new avid models. The new walleye model is killer!

I think the Victory rods are very good, however, I think the LTB rods are worth the price jump. They’ve become my favorite line of rods period. You get a better blank, better guides, and a much better looking rod. That blue looks great in the sunlight and the cork is fantastic on them.

I agree! You can’t go wrong with either but the legends are my favorite!

I have and use a mix of both the older & new LTB sticks,

as well as a couple from the Victory line; one MH casting & one M spinning.

They ARE ALL Killer rods but each one is a little different.

Which one I like Might not be the same as which one you like.

The LTB has always been my favorite stick but lately that Victory rod

has been coming on strong . . . .

Good Luck

For a moving bait rod, no it's not worth the upgrade. Dragging rod ? maybe but I personally like the look of the Victory.

The upgrade in the LTB is a jump in blank material from SC 3 to 4, you notice it more in the action than sensitivity and that varies from model to model.  You get an upgraded guide train from AL O to  K Alconite, not a night and day difference as the O guides are light, but the Ks look much nicer.

Although im not crazy about the LTB blue, it does make the rod standout, I actually like and prefer the raw look of the Victory.  Paints nice, but it makes the blank noticeably heavier.  Ive handled a half dozen of the LTB and you notice a little increase in weight compared to Victory, but I feel like the LTB are balanced very well so that extra weight isn't felt very much.

Surprisingly Victory has a 15yr warranty and I'm pretty sure LTB has the same, you have to go to Elite to get the lifetime, but 15yrs is great.

Victory is probably the better value, but if you're just buying 1or 2 and it happens to be a spinning, bottom contact, JB or anything where you want a fast recovery and max sensitivity than I can see the upgrade making sense.

I own several SC LT rods and have always been very pleased with their sensitivity, components and looks.  They also hold their value for resale.

I don't think St Croix offers a lifetime warranty anymore. All of the legend rods are 15 year now.

Awesome thank you!

Do you pick up much sensitivity?

@snowplow, In my experience the SC LT/LE rods are very sensitive.  As I stated in an earlier thread I recently bought two NRX+ because I thought I was missing out.  No.  With my almost 60 YO hands I can't tell a difference between my NRX+ and a SC LE.

Ive been souring on SC for the past few years after being a fanboy for over 20.  I heard they were going to stop lifetime warranties a few years ago, but I was just hoping it was a rumor.  I mean 15yrs is practically all you need, but a company a lifetime warranty is a sign of confidence in the gear and that definitely makes me feel at ease.  I wish them the best, but there aren't many lines the make that dont have an equivalent that cost considerably less.

My understanding from visiting the plant annually (sometimes more) is that even after 15 years if the rod breaks due to a manufacturing issue they will usually still replace the rod.  However, I have noticed sometimes it is who you deal with at the shop.

15 yrs is an amazing warranty for sure and all the options they have to replace broken rods on their site shows they care about keeping customers happy. I still think SC is at the top as a rod company.
