I am planning on buying a new reel here in the next week or two and need some help making my decision.  Here are my choices

Chronarch 50 mg

Chronarch 100b

Curado 300DSV

I like the 50 mg but I am really concearned with the durabilty of the the reel and how well it will hold up.  I do like it's light weight.    I was thinking of getting the 100B thinking it might be more durable.  Can anyone point out any differances in the 50 mg and the 100b other than the obvious weight differance.  I was thinking the curado 300dsv for its line capacity and it has more drag power than the previous two. Any suggestions

It is impossible to go wrong with the Curado. You will be happy with it for years to come. I have both and enjoy both, you would be thrilled using either reel but I would lean towards the Curado. Let us know. 8-)

I have both.  One 50MG and two 100B and both are find reels.  I use the 50 mg on a med action rod throwing light cranks .  I use one of the 100B on a 844C for jig.  The other is on a CBR 903 for larger cranks.  The only difference I see is the weight

I have the burner series curado already and it is a great reel but  during the 06 season I built up my tackle supplys and this year I'm looking to add some more rod and reels to the arsenal.  I'm looking at buying 4 more setups this season.   Thanks for the info though I am leaning toward the chronarchs I just hope I won't be disappointed

Man, talk about apples and oranges!

Basically the 100b has 2 more bearings and holds a little more line than the 50MG and weighs more. If line capacity is an issue, you can swap the spool in the 50 with the curado 100d and gain some but still keep the reel in the 6 oz. range or look at the curado or citica 100dsv they weigh just over 7 oz.. As for drag, if you need more than 10lbs worth, for bass fishing, I need to fish with you. If you are applying more than 10 lbs of drag (at the reel) you are in dangerous territory with breaking rods... think of it this way, a gallon jug of water is about 8 lbs- tie one to your rod and see how it feels. *I take no responsibility for a broken rod with this experiment!

The 50 is a tough little reel and will take any bass fishing applications without issue... ask Reelmech or anyone who services or fishes them. The real question for me is how you concluded that the 50MG and the 300DSV are both reels that you should consider for the same rod. They are on opposite ends of the spectrum. If you really need specs like the 300dsv, the 50MG shouldn't even be a consideration. Maybe you should look at the TD-Z Big Bait Special... it has big line capacity and is light weight. (but $$$)

I am leaning toward the chronarchs I just hope I won't be disappointed

You would be the first person I have ever hear of that didn't like them.

Geez... I'm starting to sound like roadwarrior.  ...lol

I would have NEVER suggested trying one of those "other" reels. ;)

Thanks flechero for the info.  Due to lack of knowledge I was thinking more would be better when it came to the drag.   Really the curado wasn't much in the running but I thougtht I would throw it in anyways to see if anyone had any thoughts on it.  I guess I will have to try the 50 mg I just did a search and haven't found any bad posts about them so I guess I have made my decision

The 100b is smoother under load when compared to the 50mg, and obviously holds more line.  I don't think the extra bearing content is the reason for the smoother cranking power of the 100b; I just think all my aluminum framed reels feel more buttery smooth under load versus my magnesium framed reels.  As said, the 50mg is as tough as any reel on the market, don't let the 'finesse reel' mentality of the 50mg hold you back from using it for heavier applications.  I have 4 of the 50's, and use them for all my jig and worm rods, and even use one paired with an BCR874 for Carolina rigs.  They all have 15-20lb line on them, and the drag is more than adequate.

Well I have two 50s.  Best reels I've ever fished with.  Smooth and light.  I fish'em on my worm rod and my spinnerbait rod.

It really depend on how you plan to use the reels.    I think the 50s are a good bet for all around fishing.  I have both my 50s paired with loomis rods.  Sweet, sweet, sweet.  You could fish these combo's all day and not be tired.

I own several older Curados and I prefer them in certain situations.
