Super User Jar11591 Posted May 11, 2024 Super User Posted May 11, 2024 When I woke up this morning I was greeted with a bunch of pictures of Aurora borealis all over my town. I was too busy sleeping. Wish I went out and looked. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted May 11, 2024 Global Moderator Posted May 11, 2024 My wife woke me up and drove me to a graveyard nearby, there were several other cars in there with their lights off taking photos. Luckily (for her) we came down to the lakehouse which is far away from city lights. I couldn’t see a thing but she was losing her mind with excitement, she took these photos. The sky just looked black to the naked eye but the pictures were all purple. I could only see the streaks and fell asleep in the car 😂 she said it was better than when she went to Iceland to see them and payed a fortune, even hired a guide hahahaha in my opinion it was the third overhyped natural phenomenon of the spring, eclipse in the rain, small amount of cicadas, and a black night sky 7 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted May 11, 2024 Super User Posted May 11, 2024 My wife and I saw it from our backyard. She got several photos also. It was an impressive sight. 1 Quote

volzfan59 Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 I saw the northern lights years ago when I was an 11 year old living in the upper peninsula of Michigan. I remember getting scared because I didn't understand what was going on. It was like the sky was moving with color. We saw them last night down here in southern Arkansas but it was weird. I really couldn't see it with my naked eye, but my step daughter changed some settings on her phone's camera and voila, the sky had a pink tint to it. We're going out to some country property tonight, hopefully it will be better. 2 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted May 11, 2024 Super User Posted May 11, 2024 We had a spectacular show last night and should be pretty good again tonight. Always seems like it should make some type of sound. But nope, just silent beauty that never repeats itself. #auroraborealisrules (not my Pic) A-Jay 6 1 Quote

Woody B Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 I was asleep. This picture was taken by a co worker who lives ~5 miles from me. I've seen them before when I was traveling, but I don't remember them ever being visible this far South. 2 Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted May 12, 2024 BassResource.com Administrator Posted May 12, 2024 I had a front-row seat to a spectacular show last night! I haven't seen them that vivid - and directly overhead - since I was living in Alaska as a teen! Fantastic!! straight up! 5 1 Quote

PaulVE64 Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 As a much younger man prone to mischief, given a chance, and having spent the day skiing Lake Louise with my 2 brothers. All of us streaming on mushrooms, and otherwise, sitting in the outdoor pool of the nearby Radium Hotsprings while the northern lights flashed around us. Happy Mothers Day 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted May 13, 2024 Global Moderator Posted May 13, 2024 We went to see them Saturday night and they never showed, apparently it was only Friday here Quote
Fishlegs Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 I've always thought of seeing the northern lights as a bucket list item. I never thought I'd see if from my driveway. It is an impressive event. 2 1 Quote

Fishlegs Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Alabama...which is why I never expected to see them here. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted May 15, 2024 Super User Posted May 15, 2024 I was on all night security detail the night it happened and didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary, even though I was outside most of the night. I was around 7 miles west of Jax - maybe the city lights made it unviewable… To tell you the truth , I was disappointed when I heard about it. I’ve never seen it here in my life. The last time it was seen in Florida was 1989, and I missed it then too. Quote
