Finesse Spinning Rod Suggestion

Looking for advice! Just fished last weekend with a 1/8oz swim jig with a 7ft light spinning rod “fast action” (more like moderate). Absolute blast. 
 

Now I’m hooked and was thinking of getting an extra light 7’ spinning rod from Dobyns. I really don’t want a super whippy rod. I do want the sensitivity and fast action for a good jig hook set. 
 

My hope is for a multi species rod that can handle 3lb+ fish, but can make fighting 1lb fish a lot more fun!!

 

The other thing I was thinking was the Sierra pan fish rod. Just worried about the larger fish. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

A 7ft plus light action spinning is going to whippy by default!

 

But I too love catching them on those sleigh ride light rods...

I caught a pike today on a Megabass Flyssa, talk about some parabolic, it was a blast!

If you thought that was a blast, bfs might blow your mind, it takes the fun factor to another level. I've caught fish up to 5lbs on my medium-light/fast bfs setup.

Oh Im there....I cant see BFS being the major factor for me, but I do have two set ups.. Popxstick with alderbaran and 5lb test...Fun for smallies for sure!

I would be looking into these if it were me. Shimano expride light plus, St. Croix avid panfish, St. Croix legend walleye light 7', or St. Croix Avid Walleye.

ML F/XF 7'1 or under is probably the answer, any longer and an XF fishes more like a sub 7' F.  They have just enough power in the back to deal with decent fish or set a hook but are light enough to have fun with just about anything.  The more money you spend the better the guide train and recovery will be, which make the material more sensitive, but in hand it is. 

The rod depends on the budget.

7'1 ML and 7' M F Taula blanks are great, the particular line depends on the $ you want to spend on the upgraded guide train.

I picked up the Zodias 6’9” medium light fast action and love it. I used to use a 7’ light power like you described. Too whippy for me. I wanted a faster action with a little more power down low, but the same light tip to throw 1/16 and 1/32 oz heads at times (with 2-3” soft plastics) while mostly fishing 1/8 oz jig heads with plastic.  I think you’re going to find that a true light power is going to be a little light for swim jigs. A medium light has a lot more power in the bottom and middle of the rod.
