throttleplate Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 I put my unused minnows in vodka and into the freezer they go, when i use them next time they smell of vodka which hasnt stopped the fish from devouring them. 1 Quote
Zcoker Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 There may be something to it. Perhaps you've heard of Pat Cullen. He would wash his hands and lures in the lake water before he made a cast. Only in this way would the DD bass hit. He was very convinced of this and sure can back it up--over a 1000 bass 10lbs and up! 3 Quote
Super User Bird Posted May 16, 2024 Super User Posted May 16, 2024 Talking about OCD, I know a guy that refuses to use any soft plastic after it caught a fish, claims that bass release a pheromone that other fish can detect and the bait is rendered useless until it's been recycled. Last week I caught 13 bass on the same worm, idk 1 1 Quote

Super User LrgmouthShad Posted May 17, 2024 Super User Posted May 17, 2024 If I spray a white spinnerbait with Prada Luna Rossa Black, will the fish think it is black? Quote

Im just making sure that it didn’t have any long lasting effects. I’m not saying that I put on cologne in the boat, or that I wear it in general. My ODC makes me spend a lot of time thinking about stuff like this 😂 I wouldn't worry about it. Cologne doesn't last long. Plus, it's on your rod, not your lures. And even then, bass often don't care about smell. I've heard bass are turned off by smells like gasoline, bug spray, and sun screen, but I've caught plenty of bass with my hands covered in all of that stuff. So any affects smell have, either positive or negative, can't be huge. Quote
Skunkmaster-k Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 I read somewhere that a bass’s sense of smell is 5X that of a dog. Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted May 17, 2024 Super User Posted May 17, 2024 I just came across this thread. I had a witty reply on deck and ready to go. Then I read all the comments and realized my comment wasn't needed. 😄 5 Quote
