Forgive me if this has been beat to death but I want to know what is considered the "better" spinning reel in a 2500 size.  TIA, Randy

Honestly when it comes to budget spinning reels ill go with the Revros line for being a more refined, nicer looking, smoother feeling, and the Shimano Sienna/Nexave/Sedona for being bulletproof.

They are all nice reels, the preference on which ones better depends on the individual, do you like black and blue? or black and gold more?

Ive used my Shimanos in some really horrible conditions, left them in rain for hours and hours, threw them on the gravel/rocks hundreds of times, never oiled or cleaned even 1 of them.

Only 1 doesnt work properly anymore, the rest keep on going. They feel and look not so great but i know they will last a lifetime.

My Revros (favorite spinning reel) i think wouldve broken if i treated it like the Shimanos, but wow does it look and feel nice.

I don't have a 2500 size Revros, but have a 1000 size. I bought mine two years ago, for trout and panfish, but have used it many times bass fishing with six pound co poly line. It's worked great, and IMO a nice looking reel also.

I fish my 1000 & 2500 Revros along side my Shimano Stradics for 3 years now and they've been flawless.

Try to check them out at a local shop and see which one feels better. I have both and for some reason I don't like the Nexave as much. I picked up 2 of the revros from American Legacy when they had the BOGO sale. I put a 2000 size on a 13 fishing panfish rod and probably caught close to 150 crappie and 10 good size bass last fall and it's just now feeling like it needs a deep clean. I've been adding oil to the main gear bearings and the knob from time to time and it's been fishing well.  On a side note I have a 1000S Legalis on the way from digitaka so I'm pretty excited.

A couple of backwards perspectives on this thread.

In low-end reels, Shimano can sell smooth feel.

In low-end reels, Daiwa builds tough.

Where Shimano takes off is in their worm-drive reels, beginning w/ Stradic, for line management with fine braid.

I would recommend downloading the parts diagrams for each and comparing them if you understand anything about mechanics. Make sure you know the exact model number of the Shimano your store sells, because there are a lot of different model numbers out there on that one.

I wore out a couple Siennas years ago and was still real happy with them up until then, but when I went to replace them, I found they changed the design and removed ball bearings. That got me looking at other options, which led me to Daiwa. I bought a Legalis and wore it out, but liked it a lot. When I went to replace it, I got a Revros because it was a good bit cheaper. I've bought several of them since then when they were on sale and paid around $30 each. I still have one in the package that hasn't even been opened. I liked Shimano, but honestly I haven't looked at them in years.

Thanks guys seriously for all the replies.  I was really on the fence with this one based on all the reviews I could find.  I played with both at the store and thought for the extra $ 10.00 the Revros felt smoother than the Nexave.  I really do not think I could have gone wrong with either.

I have a 2000 and a 2500 Daiwa Revros. Also have a Shimano Sienna. I like and fish all three, but prefer the Revros.

Go with Daiwa and since a Shimano guy telling you that, You can take it to the bank 😅. Shimano Nexave is very heavy.
