3125gauge Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 How many of you guys have tried the skinny dipper. What did you think? How did you rig it? What was your most successful retrieve? I just got some and haven't had a chance to use them yet. Quote
airborne_angler Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Have you looked here yet? http://tackletour.com/reviewriskinndip.html They give a review of the bait. Quote
3125gauge Posted August 29, 2007 Author Posted August 29, 2007 Thanks for the link, but yes I've read the review, I just wondered how some of you were doing with it. Quote
Mugs Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I have tried the Skinny Dipper and am very dissapointed. Big waste of money for a lure that is lacking in both performance and durability. I would like to hear other's experience with this........ I'm starting to wonder why some of these products are featured on Tackletour.... I would never score this lure as high as they did.. bassnleo Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I tried a sample I received from a fishing friend. We used them in conjunction with Zoom Super Flukes one day while fishing for smallies on a local river. We fished the SD weightless and texas rigged just as we fished flukes. When retreiving the SD we imparted small jerks on some casts on others a straight retreive. The SD caught just as many smallies as the flukes on that day. I liked the action and could see potential for fishing it over grass and around other cover. I found no problem with durability, I caught several fish on the one that I used. Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I've used them several times and caught quite a few fish on them. I was basically swimming them over submerged grass. I did not have a durability problem with the bait. In fact, I made a few trips to the test pond and caught fish each trip using the same bait. I was rigging them on a Mustad Impact Ultralock hook and the nose of the bait would just slide off the plastic barb on the hookset sometimes, but I would just slide it back on and back to fishing. Good baits IMO. Brad Quote
pipho Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I have used them a couple times with a 5/0 Gammie superline and Owner Twistlock 5/0 but I would recommend using the Owner Twistlock it is definetly a great bait. Quote
