Guest Texas_Bass_Pro Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 What do yall think about the Bionic Blade rods? They look pretty good. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted January 2, 2007 Super User Posted January 2, 2007 When on sale at $50, one of the best bargains out there. The Extremes, on sale now for $70 are even better. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 2, 2007 Super User Posted January 2, 2007 All of my rods are now BPS rods (4 Extreme's, 4 Bionic Blades, 2 Cranking Sticks, and 2 Micro lights) I really liked my Fenwicks, but recently sold them for more BPS rods. For the money they can not be beat. The Bionic Blades are light, sensitve and above all TOUGH. They use quality Fuji guides, and on sale right now for $59 are a steal. The 4 I have are: 7' M casting - spinnerbait/buzzbait rod 6'6" MH casting - I like this rod for jigs/worms in tight spots (under docks, low tree branches, shore fishing) 6'6" MH spinning same as above, but for weightless soft plastics/ finesse jigs, I used to use this rod for suspending jerkbaits like husky jerks etc.., and it was a little too stiff and fast for that. I now use a 6'6" M Cranking stick and it seems like a match made in heaven 6'6" M spinning I like this for small crankbaits, floating Rapala's, and just general all purpose multi-species utiltiy. Pa Angler Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 I have some purchased them on sale for $50 great rods. I also have some Extremes as well but my favorite is the Johnny Morris rods on sale of course. Chow Quote
Super User RoLo Posted January 2, 2007 Super User Posted January 2, 2007 In my opinion, the Bionic Blades are grossly underpriced (great little blanks) Roger Quote
Vyron Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 for extra $20 get the extreme (weights less, more sensitive) Quote
Garnet Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 The varnish will yellow and chip after a few years and the guides arn't top line but they fish well and you can redo the guides or throw the stick out. Make sure you check the spline I've seen serveral the guides a placed poorly. Just don't expect to pass it down to your kids. Garnet Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted January 2, 2007 Super User Posted January 2, 2007 great rod for the $. Quote
lubina Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 I would also get the Extreme. I have a BB spinning, the black for what I use it for is OK but the handle I don't like it at all, the space left after at the reelseat after the reel is in place is so big the catch my fingers all the time. Quote
Cluster Fluke Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Not a big fan here. Got a 6'6" medium spinning Bionic Blade and don't like it much. Does not seem too sensitive, the butt is too long for my comfort and for the type of fishing I do with a spinning outfit. The "Hump" handle just doesn't fit me. Emphasis on ME. I was ready to be impressed and it leaves me cold. With that said if you buy it as a combo with a good Shimano reel it will get you by for a fair price. You may like yours and the $$ risk is minimal. Valascus Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 I have both a Bionic Blade and an Extreme rod. They have both served me very well and for the price you just can't beat 'em. They are indeed good rods and they usually offer them as rod and reel combos that are very reasonably priced. I got a H action Extreme that came paired with a new Shimano Citica for $120 on sale last year. Great combo. The Bionic Blade is a MH and came with a Shimano Spirex...though I will say I am not really impressed with the reel (it has worked well enough...but I think it could have cost me a few fish), the rod has done well. Ky_Lake_Dude Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Great rods especially for the price.I have 3. Quote
Garnet Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 CF for the money you have in your Bionic Blade get your hacksaw and a piece of tape just shorten that bad boy up. To big a hump hacksaw most down and sand to shape. Garnet Quote
