Super User Grey Wolf Posted January 2, 2007 Super User Posted January 2, 2007 www.tackletour.com has a great comparsion on the stella , sustain , and stradic spinning reels. Their final conclusion is that the stradic is the best value of the three. This seems to concur with the general feeling on our board. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 2, 2007 Super User Posted January 2, 2007 Tackletour reviews are so much more interesting when, #1 you care and #2 you have actually used the equipment they are reviewing. I grade this review a dead solid 10... ;D Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 2, 2007 Super User Posted January 2, 2007 Great review. I own the Shimano Sustain 2500, tried the Stradic, and have dreamed of a Stella. The Sustain was the first Shimano reel to bring me over to the Posse. ;D ;D ;D Quote
shimanogloomis man Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 idk i love my stradic but have used a sustain i think its a smoother n better reel Quote
Super User Alpster Posted January 2, 2007 Super User Posted January 2, 2007 I have all three, except in different sizes. Stella 1000FB, Twin Power (Japanese Sustain) 2500 and Straidic 4000 & 6000. I think the review is pretty accurate based on my experience. There are so many little things that make a reel 'feel right' that you just have to fish it to know the difference. From the bottom to the top, Shimano make amazing reels. JMHO Ronnie Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 WE ARE GREATLY HUMBLED the sheriff and his posse have spoken Quote

Hmm... and I've seen a partial list of your baitcasting inventory and I only have one question.... Are the "Bass Bus" and boat equipped with a vault? ;D Just havin' fun! Quote

Are the "Bass Bus" and boat equipped with a vault? ;D Just havin' fun! No vault, just a well armed old nut case and a couple of bad news yankees (who make a killer breakfast BTW) watchin my back. If any BassResource.com member wants to try a custom G-Loomis rod or a top o the line Shimano reel, I would be proud to let you try one and swear you into the posse at Lake Fork! Ronnie Quote
Super User flechero Posted January 3, 2007 Super User Posted January 3, 2007 I guess I was never officially sworn in, but I have a badge. ...lol (3 spinning, 4 BC) No need to have the "enforcers" ready. ...lol I have a question though... I've never seen the digital controlled reel in person, can you really let it rip without regard to thumbing - and not backlash? Thanks Quote

Nothing is perfect, but the digital control is very impressive. If you are already proficient at baitcasting, backlash is nearly non existent, but not impossible. Since I know you have a 50 mg, imagine adding 30% to the casting distance with a 50% lighter lure. It's that good. The 5:0 to 1 gearing makes it the best cranking reel I can imagine. You can play with mine at Fork and form your own opinion. Counting the days. Ronnie Quote
ThomasL Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Guess im a posse man too,two stellas and the wife uses a stradic.I had owned the stradic to begin with, upgraded to the sustain, then to the two stellas i have now and recently bought the wife a stradic basically because it was a smooth reel for the money and if she had a mishap(dropped) with it way less money than holding one of my stellas. The stella by far is the smoothest reel i have ever used, even smoother than my daiwa supertuned baitcasters! Super User flechero Posted January 3, 2007 Super User Posted January 3, 2007 Alpster, The DC sounds impressive to say the least! I'd be thrilled to get 2 casts from the bank, that's all I'll need to see and feel it work... I just want to satisfy the curiosity. Thanks for the offer, I'll take you up on it! keith Quote
