I have a really bad habit of tying my PB before I break it again. A while back I caught three fish at 5.40lbs before I finally started catching heavier 5s.

But currently my PB is two fish at 6-4, both caught on the same rod.

7'9" Dobyns Fury with a Tatula 200HD, 20lb P-line PF Original

Bait 1 - 3pc PB rat

Bait 2 - 1pc Monka Crawler

When I think of the age of a 20" smallie I think of all the lures they've seen and wondered ....why mine?

$50 rapala sync bait casting combo from Canadian tire.  Gears were destroyed by a carp days prior. 7.2lbs largemouth caught though.

@PaulVE64 - if you've ever been in a "shad run" - a white bass run where the shad are pushed up the river channel ahead of the white bass, hybrids and stripers, the river bottom turns black, and a white footprint opens up for every step you take.

One Easter like that, I caught the same largemouth 7 (seven) times.  Couldn't miss him, he had a scar on his head.

I was throwing a Rapala Xrap with a 7’ St Croix Mojo Bass with a Shimano Curado 201i spooled with 20lb Power Pro. That was my only baitcaster at the time so it was an all around setup. It’s funny because I have mostly dedicated rods for everything now and feel like I’m much more dialed in but still haven’t beat my PB. It can be a humbling sport!

LM 7' MHF Daiwa Jupiter - Abu STXL Gen1

SM over 50 years ago, so probably a cheap Walmart rod (possibly 6' ML Berkley Lightning) and a cheap Daiwa spinning reel

Now if I could just do as good with my 7' MHF Shaman - Steez EX 100HS and Fanasista Regista 6'10" MLF - 16 EM MS 2508PE-H.  Guess that just goes to prove that the only thing money can buy is more pleasure knowing you are using nice gear.

It was on a 7’ MH Okuma Reflections rod, Shimano Curado 201B with 65lb braid to a 20lb fluorocarbon leader and tied to a 7” AC Mag Shad.

Daiwa SS Tournament 1300 on a Gander Mountain Guide Series 9' 1/8-3/8 steelhead rod.  I was fishing the flats at the mouth of the St Clair River throwing tubes at this time 22 years ago and was rewarded with a 7lb 3oz 23" female smallie.  I chose to use the steelhead rod because it could cast very far and cover a lot of water.

Abu-Garcia 5500c on a Zebco Rhino Tough rod.  I've still got both.  The reel seat is broke on the rod.  I've got 2 of those old reels, not sure which one I caught my PB on.

My PB is 10 1/4, on a Devils Horse.  I think I lost the same fish a month or so before I caught it.   A month before I caught it I hooked a BIG Bass on a T-rig.  It jumped.  I snatched my rod, jerked the Bass onto it's side and "surf boarded" it to the boat.   I was reaching down to lip.....it "got traction" and broke my line.   I learned that day not to get a big fish that's not tired too close to the boat.   Right next to the boat there was no stretch in the line, and very little in the rod for a cushion against breaking off.   A month later my PB "slurped" down my Devils Horse.  It hardly made a sound.  It was in the middle of a lay down.  I was able to surf board it away from the lay down, but I jumped on the trolling motor pedal and kept some distance between me and it until it was tired.  The line was probably Stren, 14 pound or so.  I used a bunch of it back then.  IIRC it was made my Dupont back then.

When I was a kid I caught monster LMB and stripers but didn't keep track so I don't really know what my PB is. But when I did start keeping track, my LMB PB was on a 7 ft Ugly Stik inshore Lite (older generation) with a Lews G2 Spinning reel. Chartreuse and blue crankbait I picked up from a Walmart $1 box. I don't know the weight but I could put my whole fist in its mouth without touching the sides. I still don't remember my scale or ruler when I catch my bigger fish but I take pics.
