I use my brother's F150 and he has a Curt adjustable, dual ball hitch on it with a 2" and 2-5/16" inch balls on it to pull his shack and my boat.

His iceshack uses the 2-5/16" inch ball with no shock when pulling. It is approx. 1,000lbs. lighter.

When I use his truck to pull my Alumacraft Competitor 205 with the 2" ball there is a thunk when starting and stopping. The trailer has a Leverlock hitch on it.

Maybe the Leverlock coupler is known for not being as tight and the problem cannot be resolved, I don't know.

If that is not the case, what is the best shock absorbing hitch that is good for summer and winter with salt on the roads?

The fit between the receiver and the hitch is not that close and often causes the clunking when starting and stopping.  They make a number of aftermarket items to lessen or remove that clunk.  Can't say I have ever saw a cushioned hitch.  There are many ways to reduce the clunk.  On my hitch, I used some washers to slide in along side the hitch stem where it goes into the reciever, then add a gob of " goop" to hold the washer in place.  When I remove the hitch stem, the washers stay on the stem.  Gotta jockey it a little when putting it back in but it eliminates most of  the clunking noise.

Not sure about shock absorbing,

but I've been using this Andersen Rapid Hitch since 2007.

Feature include a polished finished.

Multi ball size. (fits my canoe and the Lund)

And has a greaseless alimiball, that eliminates greasing the ball or the coupler.

The greaseless alumiball version can hold from 5,000-12,500 lbs. The plated steel combo ball version can hold from 7,500-12,500 lbs. All hitch versions have a 1,500 lbs tongue weight rating.

Each Rapid Hitch meets V5 and SAE J684 certifications.

greaseless , you never have to worry about greasing the tow ball or coupler ever ag

I had a non-adjustable hitch with that greaseless ball and the plastic cap broke off after a year.

That's a bummer - was it an actual Rapid Hitch ?

Pretty sure they are guaranteed for the life of the hitch.
