Looking for recommendations on a rod that I can Flip / pitch 1/2 oz to 1 1/2 oz baits. A rod that could double as a frog rod would be even better. Not looking to break the bank here, but more bang for the buck. Thanks in advance for any reccs.

Depending on your preferred length either the falcon expert bayou or the Amistad. Both right at $200. The bayou is 6’11” and my choice for frogs and the amistad is my heavy-ish pitching rod for those weights. Both will do both though.

I’m a huge fan of this rod. Plays like a half power heavier than a MB tequila bacarac for a third the price. Under $140.

I like Lews rods for pitching, so these are on the more budget side

$100/110 Lews TP1X Heavy 3/8-1 1/2oz

$110 Lews KVD 7'2" MH 1/4-2oz (i use this for pitching the heavy stuff and big Daingerous swimbaits (Magdraft). I got mine on sale for 40% off but that was last year, they seem to be holding at MSRP the past few months.... So id say those are hard to beat for best bang for the buck. Reason being, fishing in those heavy vegetation areas can snap a rod from all that weight and force if you get stuck on a big clump of it, would rather break one of them than something more expensive. But thats just me.

More expensive rods ive heard good things about is the Tatula line of rods and the stiffer rods from Dobyns. (i really like my Fury but look at their ratings because my MH is almost like a M)

You’re looking for a tool to accomplish three techniques. Pitching moderate weighted baits, punching heavy weighted baits and throw a frog that can weigh from 3/8 to 3/4 if an ounce and work the frog and possibly drag in five pounds of vegetation.  With that I have experience with the rods that can handle that well but not in your budget. Dobyns Champion 736C, Edge EX Pro 738 and Dobyns Extreme 746C.  The Kaden 745C came close but would be a stretch for 1.5 ounce.  FWIW.

I have a St. Croix Bass X 7’4” Heavy fast (first gen) the I primarily use for punching but have thrown frogs and light Texas rigs. It’s got a lot of power for sure! The 2nd gen had reel seat issues. It looks like they put a better reel seat on the 3rd gen, so worth a look. $120

I also picked up a Falcon EVO 7’3” Heavy Fast from Walmart last year. This rod has completely exceeded my expectations! I’ve used it for A rigs, punching, frogging, jigs, t rigs, big spinnerbaits. This would be the Amistad model in their higher lines. Very nice rod for $80 and I’ve had no regrets, punches way higher than the price would suggest.
