Super User Catt Posted December 25, 2006 Super User Posted December 25, 2006 At Academy we can't sell a product unless it is in the box in which it came from the factory. I bought our display model Shimano® Chronarch® Mg for $124.95 8-) Quote
cabela10 Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Original cost for that is what? I'm too lazy to look it up. Quote
volpster31 Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 you might think the baitmonkeys dead...but hes like the terminator...he cant be reasoned with....he cant be stopped :) you got a great deal on the reel congrats Quote
Guest Texas_Bass_Pro Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Thats how the baitmonkey works. He will sacrifice one small item and then BAM!!!! He will kick you between the mailbox and the post office!! Quote
Craw Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Great deal Catt! You now own one of the best reels ever. The bait monkey wants to know which rod you are going to pair it with. Quote
castaway Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Catt, Thats an awesome reel at a great price.Congratulations. :)Ivan Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted December 26, 2006 Super User Posted December 26, 2006 Catt, you're a lucky man. That was a great deal. Can you get that good of a deal on the rod? Congrats, Falcon Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 26, 2006 Author Super User Posted December 26, 2006 Getting that good of a deal on a rod will be a little bit harder since the only high end rods sell are Shimano Curcial, Falcon (some new & some old), American Rod Smith, & Castaway. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 26, 2006 Super User Posted December 26, 2006 That is a fantastic deal. Congratulations! Quote
huskertko Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Unfortunately, you didn't kill the BM, you just fell into his trap. Now you have a super light reel that is going to need a home on a new super light rod, I am thinking Loomis IMX or GLX. So what you thought was a great deal is now going to cost you another $250-$350 to pair it up with a fantastic rod. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that is how the bait monkey works his evil little plan. :'( Quote
Super User 5bass Posted December 26, 2006 Super User Posted December 26, 2006 I'll PayPal you $160 for it right now! Seriously. ;D Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted December 26, 2006 Super User Posted December 26, 2006 My wife explains it this way: The sale was 50% off. So, if I only bought the $100 shoes I would have only saved $50, but since I got the whole outfit and a purse, well...I "saved" over $300! Quote

Super User Catt Posted December 26, 2006 Author Super User Posted December 26, 2006 The bait monkey can't hang with the Catt 8-) Original cost of Shimano® Chronarch® Mg $250 A Loomis IMX or GLX $300.00 less $125 saved on reel $175 Total spent: $300 for a $550 set-up Fivebasslimit, I would but this is going to be my Texas Rig Quote
scbassin Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Catt. The bait monkey just fell out of the tree he was laughing so hard. You save good money on the 1st. set up but now he has got you hooked for set up 2 & 3 etc, etc. Our only chance is if the lion got him when he hit the ground laughing. Quote

How could you save 125 on the reel and have a $250 dollar overall savings... Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted December 27, 2006 Super User Posted December 27, 2006 Catt, congratulations on your great deal, and your new job at Academy. Just out of curiosity, how much of your new monthly salary have you budgeted to satisfy the lust of the Bait Monkey? ;D Mike Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 27, 2006 Author Super User Posted December 27, 2006 Ok let's explain it where y'all can understand it I've got $550 in my wallet which is the cost of a new Chronarch Mg and A G Loomis Rod. I only spend $125 for the reel and $175 for the rod for a total of $300 The original amount in my wallet of $550 minus the cost of $300 leaves me with $250 I would say the bait monkey lost! Oh yea Long Mike my salary at Academy is not my only income Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 27, 2006 Super User Posted December 27, 2006 Lost? A better term might be "strategic retreat." He WILL be back! Quote
Super User flechero Posted December 27, 2006 Super User Posted December 27, 2006 The original amount in my wallet of $550 minus the cost of $300 leaves me with $250 I would say the bait monkey lost! I have to disagree on 2 different levels... 1. I believe the bait monkey takes great pleasure in the acquisition of new tackle and equipment, regardless of cost... as long as you buy good equipment, he also likes good deals. 2. even if #1 isn't true and you used the remaining $250 for non-fishing stuff, that savings will stretch the resources in other places and still leave you with extra fishing money later. Either way it's a win-win, both you and the monkey are happy! Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Lost! He didnt lose. He was just bargain shopping for the holidays. If you would have killed him you would have had to pass on the deals. ;D But I wouldnt have either 8-) Quote
huskertko Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Lost?A better term might be "strategic retreat." He WILL be back! This is exactly what I was thinking. The Bait Monkey is the spawn of the Terminator, he can't be killed. Quote
