nofishforme Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 i bought some stren superbraid 20lb line over the summer and put t on one of my cheap shakespere baitcasters. it seemed like it wouldnt cast as far as norml unbraided line, is this true? Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted December 26, 2006 Super User Posted December 26, 2006 if it is digging into the spool this is possible.braid should be used in the same diameter as you would use a mono.this helps prevent digging in.also try sufix braid.imho it is superior to all others and diggs less.i use 16/65 on a baitcaster and would not go below 12/50. Lon Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 i've used stren superbraid and spiderwire stealth for musky fishing 80lb. Even with "soft" musky rods i had several break offs with this size. the stren seemed to have fewer, but the diameter was bigger. It seems to be a less tightly wound braid as it also absorbed more water than the spiderwire, which didn't pick up any. Casting distance is hard to say. The stren I used on 2-5 oz jerkbaits so casting distance wasn't a problem. not much help just a few littl tidbits of info to add Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 26, 2006 Super User Posted December 26, 2006 Just put some on my new Accurist, seems to cast just fine. I had only used Spiderwire Stealth before and the Stren seems to cast better than the stealth. Wayne Quote
Matt Jungblut Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 mono will cast farther then braid Quote
