Super User Choporoz Posted April 12, 2024 Super User Posted April 12, 2024 Killing me sitting here waiting for workweek to end, but knowing the lakes and rivers are going to see gale force gusts for the next 60 hours. I don't recall 3 straight days and nights of sustained unsafe wind. The fish are probably eating everything in sight right now. I've been looking for a launch within 2 hours that won't be unsafe this weekend 2 Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted April 12, 2024 Super User Posted April 12, 2024 Yep - sitting at home right now on a near 70 degree day because sustained winds are SW at 22 gusting to 36 mph, and the weekend forecast isn’t much different. Would just be an exercise in futility in a high-sided aluminum boat. Mid 80s all next week, so the heat might keep me off the water then, too. Can’t win 😔 Quote

Glad I squeezed in so many trips through the winter/spring. Have half expected I’d get shut down a bunch being this far south during the ‘summer.’ 1 Quote
Woody B Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 I fought the wind for a while today, then gave up. The good thing about Spring is there's usually a few Bass in pockets that are protected from the wind. That doesn't make getting to the pockets any easier though. On top of the wind the wake boats are starting to get out again. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted April 13, 2024 Global Moderator Posted April 13, 2024 Not windy on this side of the ridge but too much work going on . I casted for 15 minutes off the bank just now, might get some time to fish tomorrow sure was windy yesterday Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted April 13, 2024 Author Super User Posted April 13, 2024 Sustained winds over 20, gusting over 40 all day. Every time I got tempted to go out a big gust would come through. Tomorrow morning may be OK until 11 or so, then wind's back again. Quote
Super User Koz Posted April 14, 2024 Super User Posted April 14, 2024 I feel your pain. Most every day we've had winds 23-30+ mph. And of course, on the days when the winds are a bit more manageable at 10-15mph I've been working late. I have managed to fish off my backyard and docks for a little bit a few times in the wind, but it's just not pleasant out there. The good news for me is winds will be under 10 mph tomorrow, but the temperature will be 86. Come summer that 86 will feel somewhat cool outside, but as the first hot day of the year it will probably feel brutal out there. And the boat and jet ski traffic will be ridiculous. Quote
