Tomorrow morning im going to buy myself a new reel with some christmas money, and I was hoping for some opinions on whether to get the Pflueger President or Shimano Sedona reel? :-?. I have a Symetre and its an amazing reel ;), I just thought I might try something different. All opinions will be a big help. Thx

On behalf of the pflueger mooks I strongly reccomend the President it is my favorite spinning reel. Now watch what happens when the Shimano Posse finally wakes up

Get a Sahara instead of a sedona. Both sedona and president had graphite frames. The shimano sahara is the same price as the president. If you want a quality product that will last a long time go with the Sahara.

Personally I would get a Shimano Sahara, but if I were going to choose between the Sedona and the President, the I would get the Presiident. I like Shimano reels but I also have Pfluegers as well.  I am also not so closed minded or loyal to Shimano that I will not buy something else. My newest saltwater reel is not even Shimano, it was a Penn.  I will say this, if you have Symetre, then the Sahara or even a Sedona will not seem the same. I have a Symtre and I like it twice as much as my Sahara.

Hope this helps.

Oh yea! ;D

Anyways, I have had my Shimano Symtre for five years, and my Pfluegers since I joined this forum.  Howver if I had my way all my saltwate equipment would be replaced by Penns. I like Pfluegers for freshwater, but they do not hold up in the inshore environment. :'(

What did Bud say?

I'm sure you will like those other reels and pay special attention to do dodgeguy, he's Mr. Pflueger.

However, I am surprised that you like your Symetre so well and aren't considering the Shimano Stradic.

That reel is the "best value" in the Shimano line-up.

I ended up getting the Sedona 2500, I couldnt go any higher because my grandma gave me 70$, to buy something with so I have something to open at her house. SO I got the sedona with both spools spooled.

I am sure you will like the Sedona, Shimano makes very good reels. Like I said I have a Symtre and a Sahara. I aslo have Pfluegers, Penn and Quantum reels. It is all a matter of preference, kinda of like Chevy vs. Ford. Enjoy your new reel and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS! ;)

It's Christmas, let's play nice. A couple of posts have been edited and two were deleted ONLY because they addressed the edited portion of other posts. So, c'mon guys...This is just for fun, let's be civil. We all have "favorite" brands. Be positive in your post, it serves no purpose to blast another guy's choice in equipment.
