ghost Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 Starting to see this type of tail on Swimbaits from inexpensive to pricey SB's. Besides the price being jacked up for I guess a custom look, what is the advantage? I don't care for that type of tail cuz I would need to store the SB in a way not to damage or bend the paint brush tail. 2 Quote
MediumMouthBass Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 I dont have any with the brush style tail but i have dozens of paddle/boot tails as well as rubber fork tail ones. Only thing that comes to mind for me is less drag/vibrations in the water and also probably lasts quite a long time unlike the rubber tail sections on most that can get bit off. Quote
softwateronly Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 I prefer them for these reasons; small subtle movements when paused and hook up ratio might be improved if they're not taking headshots. scott Quote
spartyon8 Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 I just started into the swimbait world and one video I watched said it added a "crunch" to the bite. The angler thought it was then more realistic to the predator fish. 1 Quote

Once a fish gets to crunching a tail, she's got 6 treble points stuck in her mouth...probably does not matter much how realistic the tail tastes by that time 1 1 1 Quote
Pat Brown Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 Yeah I think it's just how they were made in the early days and it's kinda 'authentic' but beyond that probably no benefits. Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted April 12, 2024 Super User Posted April 12, 2024 If Kevin Brightwell (KGB Swimbaits owner/designer) thinks they're the right way to go......good enough for me. To me they look significantly more natural in the water than other tail types. 1 Quote
