Troy85 Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Anyone here gonna be fishing the Big Bass splash next week? I'll be there with some buddies. Looks like the lake is about 6' low. Any thoughts or predictions about big fish weights? Quote

Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted April 9, 2024 Super User Posted April 9, 2024 My bet is a 9-10lb fish will win; lake has been cranking out fish that size on the reg lately. The derbys this year have taken 30-35lbs to win. Lake is fishing great. Milliken caught a sharelunker there a 6 weeks ago IIrc. 1 Quote

C-Rigged fluke, on stage he said the fish bit the first time he drug the bait across the bed. Crazy. We had a lot of fun. Caught a bunch of fish, just not big enough. I caught a 5.75 on Wednesday on a swim jig. All 6 of us caught good numbers with a lot of fish right about 4lbs. 95% of our fish came a C-rigged trick worm in redbug color. 4 Quote

Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted April 25, 2024 Super User Posted April 25, 2024 I just call them lost baits.....I can't fish them around laydowns/heavy cover without breaking off all the time. Need to focus more on deeper water structure vs cover I think. Very interesting using a C-Rig as a bed fishing bait, maybe that's why she ate it the first go around. Imagine catching a 11lber, then imagine winning $300k for doing so........doesn't get any better than that in life. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 25, 2024 Super User Posted April 25, 2024 He wasn't fishing a traditional C-Rig. He described as a bobber stop, 3/8 oz bullet weight, 2 more bobber stops, hook, leaving about a 1' leader. 1 hour ago, AlabamaSpothunter said: imagine winning $300k $172,000 cash! See the interview on YouTube, Tackle Talk Live He wasn't the only lucky one. My friend was in line weighing a fish and they were interviewing a guy who had just won the hour ($10,000). It was like his first or second time fishing, his brother talked him into coming and bought him a cheap combo the night before. When they asked him what he caught it on, he just kind of mumbled something incoherent. 1 Quote
