5282jt Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions on the larger spool spinning reels? Which pick up the most line per turn? Which are the lightest? And which ones are junk? Quote
Big T Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 How large do you want and what are you going to use it for. I use 4000 series Shimano's, I also have a Quantum Kinetic 40 series and Plfuegers in the 40 series. If you buy a Shimano and want to spend the money I would get either a Symtre or Stradic. I own the Symtre and it has been bullet proof in the saltwater environment where I use it. I have heard that the Stradics are even better than the Symtres. If you want a true saltwater reel try a Penn in the 450 to 550 range or get a Quantum saltwater Catilyst or Cabo. I hear those are great reels as well. As for bass you might want to try a Pflueger President in the 40 series. I hear good things about these reels as well. Oh yeah the 4000 series Shimano's hold 200 yards of 10# and 160 yards of 12# line. MY Quantum 40 size holds 210 yards of 10 # and 200 yards of 12# line. Quote
justfishin Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Buy the Shimano Stradic 4000 series. You will be pleased. Quote

5282jt Posted December 25, 2006 Author Posted December 25, 2006 Well, I want to go with a spinning reel that retrieves more line per turn, partly for speed and partly because I fish a LOT! Just ask my wife! > I have elbow trouble and the less revolutions I have to turn a day and the slower I can turn them, the better! I don't need the spool to hold a lot of yards of line, just to retrierve it more inches per turn. How large do you want and what are you going to use it for.
