Mobydick Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 I have been debating wether to buy a Pfluger Summit baitcasting reel or not. What's your opinion about it? Quote
GAcraw22 Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Go with a Abu Garcia Revo S. You will not be dissapointed. Cost is around $99.00. 9 bearings and agear ratio of 6:4 to 1. Just my opinion. Quote
Greg Harris Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 I havn't tried the Summit, but you can't go wrong with a Quantum Energy PT or Tour Edition PT IMO. Quote
basspro48 Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 I'm not buying any Pfleuger stuff anymore. The President spinning reel and the Supreme casting reel both crapped out on me within a year of purchase. If I were you I would go with a Shimano citica, it is a solid, smooth, reliable reel for $40 less than the summit. Quote
Guest Texas_Bass_Pro Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 I have never use that particular reel but that may be due to me only using Shimano and Quantum reels. Quote

If I buy a product and it fails on me I usually don't give that product/ company any more business. I have nothing but good things to say about my Pflueger and Daiwa reels. I really have never had any trouble with any reels for the most part and I have owned just about all of them over the last 20 years. I will tell you the one reel I did have trouble with, and I had trouble with it from day 1 straight out of the box. Now I am not bashing this reel or that company, I am just saying that every one lets a few lemons out every once in a while.I bought this reel back in 1998 or 99 if I recall.........the reel............ahh yesss........every ones ol' reliable shimano curado........ fell apart literally after 1 weeks worth of fishing, and shimano gave me the run around on fixing/replacing it, they eventually did, but just that ONE bad reel has turned me off from spending any more $$ with shimano.
