Super User BrianMDTX Posted August 6, 2024 Super User Posted August 6, 2024 Cork is basically waterproof so it’s more of a “keep it clean” issue. I prefer the battle scars. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted August 6, 2024 Super User Posted August 6, 2024 I do not seal my cork handles. Quote
Super User MickD Posted August 6, 2024 Super User Posted August 6, 2024 I don't think one can find unfilled natural cork grips any more, so I always use cork sealer when new in an attempt to keep the filler from coming out. Not sure yet whether it's successful. I don't detect a change in feel due to the sealer. But if the filler comes out there is a big change in appearance and feel. Quote
ike8120 Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 I clean my cork grips at the end of the season with Mr. Clean magic eraser then seal with U40(just a very light coat). Also you can fill any cracks or holes with natural color wood filler. Great videos on youtube. 1 Quote

But if it can increase the life of my "investment" without changing too many characteristics I will. Nice bass btw. Only way it could be slick is if they are using a bad sealer. I use U-40 on all my cork and it is in no way slick at all. To me it actually adds more grip while still staying true to the cork feel. It does change the texture very slightly and will darken the cork. Quote
