FishTax Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 I'm thinking of going out with a guide next Saturday for a half or whole day somewhere in the state for my birthday. Was going to go to the ocean but looks like potentially bad weather for that. Now I'm thinking of going west, maybe Lake Fontana? My wife is coming and that looks beautiful, I'd like her to join me but she's not into fishing... I'm curious if anyone has recommendations of anywhere in NC they think would be good for a guided fishing trip with short notice. I don't have a particular species in mind and am open minded. I'm not good at fly fishing but like to have fun and would consider it. Maybe this isn't enough notice or is a bad idea, but thought it was worth asking. 2 Quote

It's probably too short of notice to do a guided trip anywhere, this just sort of popped up this week as an opportunity and now I'm trying to capitalize on my parents taking the kids for the weekend. Wish it wasn't bad weather at the coast, I was excited to do saltwater trip and I think my wife may like that more than bass fishing with me 1 Quote

I still got to catch me a North Carolina smallmouth. It’s mostly spots in there but some nice smallies. That one pictured was actually drab when I caught it, no stripes. I brought I back to the campsite to eat it and the girls let it go because it was pretty. Then they ate 3 spots and said they wished they hadn’t have let the SMB go 😂 I also caught a jammer white bass that trip I can’t find the pic of . There were a bunch of them running up that creek I couldn’t get to bite. Finally used weightless fluke and they instantly inhaled it 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted April 4, 2024 Global Moderator Posted April 4, 2024 Just realized those pics were from April 17-18 2021 , good time to be there. Although I recall forgetting my sleeping bag and sleeping in my boat bibs and rain coat, I froze And here’s the pic of that smallie when I first caught it, before it rode back to camp in the livewell and got its tiger stripes 3 Quote
