Happened to Burrow last season and Love 2 days ago. That's primarily why they want guaranteed money. They get paid whether they get hurt or whether they stink too. Most of the time these lucrative QB contracts hamstring the rest of their team because there's only so much money to go around for other players and stay under the salary cap. Additionally, from management's stand point, since there's no better option, the player often has more leverage in contract negotiations. Quality quarterbacks don't exactly grow on trees. Half the teams in the league (or more) are looking for one right now. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted September 8, 2024 Global Moderator Posted September 8, 2024 @Glenn I’m taking by the end of the first quarter. There used to be the ‘Madden curse’ where the guy on the cover of the new Madden game has a terrible season. Now it seems like there’s a new contract curse with QBs. Cousins, Rogers last year, and Love this year so far. Who else am I missing? 1 Quote

Super User J._Bricker Posted September 8, 2024 Super User Posted September 8, 2024 McCaffrey is reported to be working through a calf/Achilles injury but is expected to play tomorrow night’s game. Quote

That now puts him at 60 mil/year starting next season, surpassing the most recent contracts of Burrow, Love, and Lawrence. Love this signing. Just like I loved the Romo signings over the years. They are horrible at managing the cap and always extend players who put up regular season stats but can't win in the postseason. 2 Quote
Super User gim Posted September 8, 2024 Author Super User Posted September 8, 2024 Thanks a lot Bungals. You eliminated me in week 1 from TWO eliminator contests. 78% of all participants are out in week 1. Quote

They have very much improved their receiving corps, have an additional tight-end, Pachecco runs like a beast, have a great defensive coordinator...and have Mahomes. Guy at work is a huge KC fan...says the new nickname is "Hat-trick-Mahomes." Great googly moogly 1 2 Quote

Whelp, I might be wrong! The Hawks are definitely in "rebuilding" mode. Wow, what a comedy of errors. I'm surprised they squeezed out a win. I've said many times before that Geno Smith is NOT a franchise QB, and boy did he ever prove that again today, especially in the first half. I've also said many times before that the Hawks O-Line is terrible, and today they were awful. A lot of talent on the field, but they're definitely not playing as a team. Based off today, I'll revise my prediction to 7-9. It's going to be a very long season. Quote

However like you said it’s s a long season and the Niners have yet to play. Just got to see how it starts to shake out after 6-8 games. In other news, after Thursday night’s game it’s good to see the NFL officials are continuing to crack down on offensive lineman lining up in the backfield. And after one game my March 12th post is looking pretty good, considering how Cousins day went… Quote

Super User Bird Posted September 10, 2024 Super User Posted September 10, 2024 Mason is actually looking like McCaffrey......shanahan a genius. Quote

Super User gim Posted September 13, 2024 Author Super User Posted September 13, 2024 I think Tua may be done for good. Isn't this his 4th concussion in 3 years or something? You can only take so many of those before you have permanent brain damage. The backup QB looked completely unprepared too. 1 Quote
Super User Bird Posted September 13, 2024 Super User Posted September 13, 2024 Tua got his guaranteed money so I'll say he's done. Also heard a report that he had a few concussions before the NFL. Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted September 13, 2024 Super User Posted September 13, 2024 @gimruis and @Bird, I think a lot of discussion is taking place with Tua, particularly given the circumstances involving Junior Seau, who first comes to mind, and current CTE information. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted September 13, 2024 Global Moderator Posted September 13, 2024 I know he got destroyed once when playing at Alabama, broke his hip and also looked like his bell got rung badly. They never reported a concussion for that instance but it sure looked like one 1 Quote
