Super User BrianMDTX Posted January 14 Super User Posted January 14 I watched every AFC playoff game. Of all three, only one featured two teams from the same division who play each other 2x a year and know each other intimately. And added to that, it’s likely the best rivalry in the NFL at the moment. And while the final score was only a two TD difference, the Ravens dominated the Steelers and thoroughly confused that defense. The Bills are a good team. Allen and Jackson are without a doubt the two too contenders for MVP. But King Henry is absolutely beast mode and sharing a backfield with Lamar behind a young but good OL is a big plus in a game in the cold. Buffalo ran roughshod over Denver, but now they are facing the #1 rush defense in the NFL. Two elite QB’s vying for a ticket to the AFCC. It’s going to be a hell of a game. 1 Quote

At least against the Lions the defense showed up for a half. I think Sam Darnold and Brian Flores costed themselves a lot of money after last night. Flores was rumored to be a head coach candidate and Darnold was probably in for a big contract. They might each still get a crack at that but for a whole lot less money now. 2 Quote

Vikings ended the season with 4 losses, twice to the Lions and twice to the Rams. That’s some tough sledding right there. 1 Quote
Eric 26 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 In my opinion Sam Darnold didn’t get any help from his offensive line these past 2 weeks and getting that kind of pressure made a huge difference. I realize he’s holding onto the ball too long which is his problem to overcome but the Rams like the Lion’s last week really ramped up the pressure and the offensive line didn’t step up in my opinion, although that’s also on the coaching staff for not preparing for this very scenario. Super User Jigfishn10 Posted January 14 Super User Posted January 14 I spaced out and totally forgot about the game last night. Man, “As I Get Older … “ 3 Quote

Darnold is out as is Russel Wilson. Tomlin might be on his way out the door too. 1 Quote

Their fans and the citizens of Los Angeles needed a win and something to cheer about to take minds off the ongoing devastating fire event of this past week. #LASTRONG Quote

While that is all true, he also just flat out missed open receivers too. Which is not something he did most of the season. Even some of the passes that were caught were way off the mark too. Its an unfortunate ending to a 14 win season. Props to the Rams for a good game plan and execution. 1 1 Quote
Eric 26 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 @gim I will agree with you on that assessment and also a crappy way to end the season. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 15 Global Moderator Posted January 15 I think I heard the state of Minnesota professional sports teams are on a 126 year cumulative drought without making any championships. 1 Quote

The most recent version is from 1991, MN Twins won the World Series. No berths in any championship since in the 4 major pro sports, so that sounds accurate. #loserville Quote

Super User senile1 Posted January 19 Super User Posted January 19 @Glenn As a Chief's fan, I agree that the referees blew it on those calls. But then again, when I watch NFL games objectively I see bad calls on all teams, including the Chiefs, and unfortunately sometimes they affect the outcome of games. And it is more irritating when it is your team that is hurt by the bad calls. I do wish the referees would do better. Of course, those 8 sacks of Stroud had nothing to do with the Chiefs win, right? 😉 2 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 19 Global Moderator Posted January 19 Sad fact from the NFL playoffs. They said it was the first time the commanders had made NFC championship game in 33 yrs. The sad part? I specifically remember watching the last time they made it on a 13” TV 😂 #markrypien 2 Quote

Sure it happens to every team in every game, I don't like when a less mobile QB sometimes seems to get a second or two more time for progressions. There were instances in that game yesterday of obvious holds, illegal blocks in the back/pushes, and straight up tackling of the D rushers. Play on, I suppose. And the less I watch, the more time I can play with fishing gear in my living room and pitch hook-free lures at the dog. (JK, I wouldn't do that - time to play Fishing Planet! ha ha) 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted January 19 Super User Posted January 19 That sucks, the Lions were such a fun team to watch, and more importantly a fun team to root for. Campbell, and Johnson did an amazing job, and Johnson is going to make a spectacular HC......wish the Falcons would fire Morris and hire him. Can't be easy to lose in the playoffs because of one single player. Goff just choked that game away, devastating performance. 1 Quote

I think this is worse than the dud the Vikings played on Monday. The Lions were at home and had an extra week to prepare and rest. For as historically good as the north division was this season, it was a colossal flop in the playoffs. 0-3 2 Quote
