Our two dogs are spoiled rotten.  For a regular everyday treat we give them various flavors of Orijen and Acana treats.  If they're real good, they get a fish skin. They also like peanut butter Old Mother Hubbards and Blue Buffalo Jerky Treats.

I can use pieces of dog food for treats, our dogs go absolutely crazy for anything. I’ll usually give them trimmings when I’m cleaning fish , they also lose their mind over ham. And yes all 3 spoiled rotten and need petted 24/7. They have trained me instead of vice versa

Mine get a small, square Milk Bone treat each morning when I let them out in the morning. They also get plenty of scraps when I'm cooking dinner. I grate cheese instead of buying it in a bag, got to pay the cheese tax whenever I get the grater out.

@Bluebasser86, my wife has wanted a golden since I’ve known her, I’m not sure I can show her this photo or we will have one. She calls them “the floof”

(I want one too but we are max capacity )

For treats, we find that the most effective and somewhat healthy treat is cooked, cubed and then frozen chicken breast. Per pound it is actually rather cheap and my dog(s) will do anything for it. Low end milk bones end up being about $1-1.50 per pound and chicken breast about $2-$2.50 per pound. High-end store bought treats get easily get into the $10’s of dollars per pound.

One of my dogs used to love the stem of head of lettuce. He would take it and throw it up in the air and pounce on it like he was taking down a small rodent. It was extremely consistent and hilarious. I miss that boy.

The whole cat food thing is fine if you’re using it as treats. As long as it’s not the PRIMARY source of nutrition it is absolutely fine to give dogs cat food.

My weimaraner’s favorite treat was deer poop.  He never passed up a chance to gobble it up like a fat kid eating birthday cake.  He also enjoyed the scent because what he didn’t eat he rolled in.

One of ours treats broccoli stems that way. Takes it back to her lair and crunch crunch crunch

@TnRiver46  it's a constant battle fighting the hairballs floating around on the hardwood and hair on everything in the house, but they're great dogs.

Teddy was an expert rabbit poop hunter.

Used to make us crazy.

He would sniff it out and eat it at any cost. Got to the point to where the only solution was to eliminate or at the very least reduce the source.  So we did that.
