Bazoo Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 A good video all the way around, but the interesting part of this video is at 12:30; The yakangler catches and releases a bass, and it turns and seems to attack the kayak. Very interesting behavior. I've caught bass myself that seemed to be nearly loathing with anger, wriggling and twisting. Anyone ever seen anything like this before or have additional thoughts. Quote
Super User Koz Posted April 3, 2024 Super User Posted April 3, 2024 Probably more disoriented than angry. 6 Quote
Dan N Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 That guy makes some quality videos, and has some great fishing for multiple species. 1 Quote
Bazoo Posted April 3, 2024 Author Posted April 3, 2024 I like his videos. While I don't watch a huge amount of youtube, I do watch a few, and his are at the top of the list. Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted April 3, 2024 Super User Posted April 3, 2024 One of my favorite fishing channels. On release, the bass is propelling itself forward before it is oriented correctly in the water with the head down -- just means it was in a hurry to get away. Can't blame it! Quote

Zcoker Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 I've had them dance across the water many time like that. They're disoriented from the catch as well as being out of the water, a sorta instinctual dance. 2 Quote
Super User Bird Posted April 3, 2024 Super User Posted April 3, 2024 I believe bigger bass can get angry. I read a book by Roland Martin over 40 years ago where he claimed that repeatedly casting an annoying bait like a rattle trap at a bass can trigger a bite out of anger. I proved his theory correct on our farm pond by dragging a rattle trap by this stump that always held a good fish. It was over a dozen cast when this fish erupted on it and was actually biting my finger while unhooking. 3 Quote
Zcoker Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 Check out Bama Bass and his pet bass, Moby. That fish more than proves that bass have unique personalities, anger being one of them. His bass gets angry, has fits, even jumps out of the tank and slams onto the hardwood floor! It eats and eats and then eats everything in site and if it doesn't get enough to eat, it starts spazzing out, flicking across the tank, striking everything in site. He caught the fish when it was no bigger than his pinky finger. 2 Quote
Bazoo Posted April 4, 2024 Author Posted April 4, 2024 Interesting comments, thanks all. My boy caught a bass right at shoreline; it was about 2 pounds, and it was angry; it continued to fight even when lipped. It appeared to have an angry look in its eye - odd as that sounds. 1 Quote
Pat Brown Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 Red eyed bass are guarding beds most of the time! The spawn is on and it does indeed up the aggression significantly! Quote
