Still use Zoom like forever. Plus my Spinnerbait guy is always coming through. I use a variety but never Googan

I don't shop at dsg for any reason, won't darken the door. Won't buy any of Boyd Duckett's junk, nor do I have anything to do with mlf.

Zoom is going to have to do something really bad for me to bail. Strike King better watch it though.

Might i ask why Strike king needs to watch it? purely curious.

If brand disloyalty means avoiding something you trusted in the past and won't even consider now, then I have a few:

Probably Mann's.  Since they stopped making the One Minus I don't really have a reason to shop that company, also their customer service really went south since covid.

Pretty much the opposite of brand disloyalty...

I'm a bit of a bait-*****...

If my brother is catching bass on a Rapala-gold-shad-raptor-laser-bazinga, you can be darn sure I'm heading to Scheels to pick up the exact same lure!

Now if you ask me about automotive brands I detest...well...careful what you ask for...cause I will give you an earful as to why you should NEVER purchase a Kia or Hyundai(!) ** warning, do not get me started **  😅

I'm fairly certain they are no longer in business. Good thing I have a big supply of one minus and auger tails.

As far as disloyalty,  if I love a product and can't stand the brand I buy it second hand. Old Bandits, TX made All Stars, etc

I have been using Kalin's grubs for decades and haven't noticed any change/chemical smell. I use them every trip and have enough on hand to give bags to my buddies. Use them in saltwater too.

I haven't bought any since December so maybe something changed or they had a bad batch.

Sadly I don’t think I’ll ever buy another St. Croix.

I'm teetering on the fence. I've got St Croix rods (L, ML, MH, H), and a mix of Fenwick, Lamiglas, Cashion, Daiwa, Shimano, Dobyns, and others. I've had guides come off every St Croix, and none on the others. Hm.

I got a disloyalty and loyalty with the company. SHIMANO — but not for fishing.

I got into cycling in the early to mid 90s and I love Shimano’s mtn bike shifters (hate grip shift shifters). I didn’t fish at this time and didn’t even know they made fishing reels. In those days if I liked a bike but it had grip shift on them, I wouldn’t buy it.

Then I added road cycling to my hobbies and I hate to say that I DO NOT LIKE Shimano’s road bike shifter systems. I strongly prefer Campagnolo shifters.

Yeah, so I’m messed up, lol, but brands have to earn my loyalty but only for a specific niche or thing. And just because I’m loyal about one thing made from a company, it is NOT a shoe in that I’d blindly follow and use something from them just because they made it.

I do like Shimano reels and shimano mtn bike pedals. Function over fan boy status … 1000%

I also won’t stick with a rod brand for the sake of the brand. I mean, WTH? Rods aren’t golf clubs. If I’m with brand A and love their DS rod there is no guarantee than I’ll buy their jig or spinnerbait rod just because I like their DS rod. Nope. No way, no how.

Same here.  Except I don't have a Campy budget.

Ahhhh I definitely got sucked into the LiveTarget hype when I started out. Still have a handful of their swimbaits left in the box. Good call, I definitely avoid them these days.

I have products that I like, but I am exactly as loyal to brands as they are to me personally

I don't really understand brand loyalty in the modern era

Posted (edited)

I'm "disloyal" to Dick's Sporting Goods/Field & Stream for the same reasons others already listed. I prefer not to buy tackle (or much of anything if I can help it) from Wal-Mart for similar reasons.

Also, I refuse to buy anything Googan just because it's a brand that tries way too hard to be cool.

Those craw crank baits all imploded on save for one color. I still have those. I bought every model in every color they looked so good.

I am not loyal to any particular brand. Definitely have been leaning more to supporting small businesses other than the big names tackle brands.  Won't step foot in a DSG as they have made it quite clear I am not the type of customer they are looking to get business from. I have never purchased a Googan product...for reasons unknown.

Giving up on daiwa baitcasters. Tried and tried to give them a chance. Last 3 I purchased all had quality issues along with the lack of overall performance. The original Tatula I still like.

Strike king RES just can't get one to swim correctly.

Kistler rod's poor craftsmanship overpriced.

Only brand I avoid is the clown show at kistler

Only 1 brand I avoid so far with fishing and thats Googan. I was gifted a rattling ned rig pack and that was the only ned that worked on my lake so I was "forced" to buy some. They are crap for durability by the way. I bugged Z-man nearly weekly to make a rattling ned and now that they have that injector thing I can get rid of the Googan crap.

I will however avoid brands for who they support. If they person they support is an AH or known cheater and they made the only bait left on earth I'd go fishless for life.

Perfect example is a guy in the precision rifle world. Caught changing scores on the score sheets for major events and I have a list of his current sponsers I refuse to give a cent to.

Not trying to start anything....  I'm just curious why?

I have one Kistler BFS rod and so far it's been great. When I called to ask questions,  they gave me straight answers.  They emailed a weeks after and wanted my opinion on it, both good and bad. Not sure if I have experienced this with any other brand.

If I had a complaint,  I don't like how they mark stuff up just to mark it down and I never thought their higher end rods lived up to the hype they use to boast about.

The Hunt BFS rod is favorite out the BFS rods I own though. So it's made curious about their other offerings. I would be good to hear other people's experiences.

One rod…

I had 8. All 8 broke during normal use. They did nothing to fix the situation. This was more than a decade ago. Anything they could try now would be too late. As for the clown show, do little deep googlin' to see. The internet is forever.
