Bassin_Harrison Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 Just looking for some thoughts on this particular model of the “new” Curado series. Looking for a rod for jerkbaits but I’ll probably through a variety of things on it (finesse jigs, small cranks) since my small arsenal requires versatility. Tatula SV103 would be sitting on it (I know I know a crime don’t crucify me). Intrigued by the Team Lew’s Signature Series 7’ Medium Fast as well. Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted March 21, 2024 Super User Posted March 21, 2024 My dad got the next power up in that lineup after fishing crucial IM10s for the past ~10 years or whenever they came out. He likes the shorter handle length on the Curados (same as the crucials were). He said its super light in physical weight. He hasn't had a chance to fish it yet though, so can't say for sure how it fishes. He got his for topwater hardbaits. If you're also looking at other options, the Falcon Finesse jig/topwater is one to look at. 6'10", MH/F though its on the lighter side of MH. I fish mine for walking baits, jerkbaits, finesse jigs, and lighter spinnerbaits (3/8 and under). Also works good for smaller franks like a DT4, OG6, and smaller squarebills. 1 Quote

Glad to hear it’s light, this newer Tatula SV I just got is like a feather. Appreciate the Falcon recommendation. I’ll probably stay away from that model just because of the MF action. I’m getting a new rod because I realized I don’t like how soft the tip is on the rod I’ve been trying to use for jerkbaits. Quote

Captain Phil Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Get your hands on a Shimano 6' 10" Zodias rod (ZDC610MHA). I absolutely love mine! Quote

I don’t know what the various website say (sometimes there are discrepancies) but certainly the expert version in the current lineup is a fast action regardless of the label. I have one and I fish it for what you are asking. It’s very quick on the tip for casting and gets into the power quickly in a hookset. It doesn’t have a ton of power for bigger single hooks but finesse singles and all travels are great. Quote
