Exactly 😉 I posted on another thread that it doesn't matter where I'm going fishing the preparation is the same. I never understood this idea of fishing differently during a tournament as opposed to "fun" fishing. 3 Quote

Same here. Sometimes it's more about learning a new technique than getting a tug on the line. At the end of the day for the majority of us it's all about unwinding from work and relaxing on the water, fish or no fish. 1 Quote

Flippin4Biggins Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 Chartreuse at night is a game changer always have pliers clipped to my belt when I’m fishing trebled baits Unpopular opinion more theory I believe in when I’m fishing is “fish aren’t smart….they are predators that are very curious”. So don’t over think stuff. bottom baits i try to contrast the bottom. Meaning weedy green stuff and I’m throwing an opposite like white or chartreuse. If I think natural is the way to go I go Junebug or a Green pumpkin but I want it to sparkle or flash of I don’t have my dedicated cranking rod I will not crank for them. I’ll go chatterbait or spinner. A great cranking rod will tell you everything you need to know about what’s going on with your bait from side to side motion, did you run into weeds, did a fish just swim up on my bait and eat it / swipe it. 1 Quote

Super User GaryH Posted March 30, 2024 Super User Posted March 30, 2024 After reading through all of the post, there is great advice and knowledge from our BR family. Then I started to smile and thought about a complete newbie reading this and thinking the heck with fishing it’s too complicated. I’m just going to learn to be a nuclear physicist. 😁 2 1 Quote

Super User FishTank Posted April 2, 2024 Super User Posted April 2, 2024 Being able to find fish is the first step No white rods - old family superstition No Crocs on the boat or at the boat ramp - I saw it again on Friday. A guy was on his own, trying to put his boat on the trailer. He climbed out on to the tongue of the trailer to attach the winch hook to the boat and slipped. He went head first, hitting the side of his head on the trolling motor mount but then he fell split legged onto the frame, busting his you know whats. So no Crocs. Fish the conditions you are given not what you plan on fishing. Learn to adapt. Fish live in the whole lake not just at the bank Do what you can to make fishing fun 3 Quote

Tom Rust Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 First some humor: never squeeze your toothpaste in the dark-it might be hemorrhoid cream! And never open “snacks in the dark-it might be your dog’s treat bag! Fishing mantra-“The fish will be there tomorrow, but you might not be” so go anytime you can!!! And…there’s always unexpected surprises at the boat ramp- just accept they’re gonna happen and either laugh about it or accept them with grace!! 😳 2 Quote

Second that. There's a lake I fish where a shooting broke out over parking (https://mynews13.com/fl/orlando/news/2017/09/29/argument_over_parkin). Love fishing there, but I feel a little sad whenever I launch. Don't be those people, don't be an a**hole, realize that everyone on the lake to have a good time. That's my dogma. 2 Quote
